The White-breasted nuthatch turned out really well, so I am posting these photos. The pose of the bird on the tree bark looks so natural.
I think the owner of this nuthatch is very lucky 😀.

A little bit about Rufous Whistler.
Australia is a land of diverse landscapes and unique wildlife, and among its avian treasures is the Rufous Whistler (Pachycephala rufiventris). This charming bird, known for its melodious tunes and vibrant plumage, holds a special place in the hearts of birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts across the continent.

The rufous whistler was originally described in the genus Sylvia by the English ornithologist John Latham in 1801.

The Rufous Whistler is one of Australia’s finest songsters, and its far-carrying, rich, musical song can be heard throughout most of Australia. This song is sometimes triggered by a loud noise, such as a clap of thunder, gunshot or passing train or car, though the response is reduced if the sound is repeated. This has led to the species sometimes being referred to as the ‘thunderbird’.

Rufous Whistlers are known for their adaptability, thriving in both dense vegetation and more open landscapes.

Its scientific name, Pachycephala rufiventris, reflects its distinctive features. “Pachycephala” translates to “thick-headed, ” referring to its robust skull, and “rufiventris” means “rufous belly, ” describing its characteristic rusty-red underparts.

My rufous whistler is made of wool. The size of the bird is about 17 cm. It is a custom made order. Materials - wool, glass eyes, clay beak, legs made of wire and thread.

Purple finches are pretty small birds that are very frequently seen in the North American regions. This bird prefers to live in the forests and urban environments. Its nest is generally found closer to human habitation.
The Purple Finch is known as the “sparrow dipped in raspberry juice” because of its reddish color. They have a very similar resemblance to House Finches but appear to be redder.

The purple finch is made of wool using the dry felting method. The size is about 12 cm. The bird is made to order.

Blue jay. This is the second time I have made this bird. The first time I made it on my own initiative, but this time it is an individual order. Usually I choose the image of the bird myself. But the client asked me to make a blue jay with a raised tail. And I’ll be honest, I don’t mind at all when you ask me to make a bird in a particular pose. Of course my possibilities are limited and if your variant will be too difficult for me, I will try to find a compromise. So you can feel free to write to me about your wishes.
The blue jay I made for my regular customer from America. And it is very pleasant when you order from me again.

The Northern Parula.

They are cute, little wood warblers. They are forest dwellers and are known for their bright yellow spot. They are similar in size to a kinglet and are migratory in nature.

They are commonly found in northern and Central America on treetops and dense forests.

Northern Parulas hop swiftly through branches and fly with rapid wingbeats. They forage by gleaning branch tips and leaves for spiders and insects.

Like most wood warblers, Northern Parulas are incredibly small in size (11-12 cm). They have short tails and bills that are equally small. They are also on the plump side.

Parula effectively means “little titmouse,” even though the Northern Parula is a member of the family Parulidae — the wood-warblers

The Northern Parula wasn’t always known by its somewhat puzzling name. Eighteenth-century naturalist Mark Catesby called the species “Finch Creeper” (a reference to its reported propensity to creep along tree tops) and John James Audubon and Alexander Wilson called it the “Blue Yellow-backed Warbler.”

As far as warblers go, Northern Parulas are some of the toughest ones with little information known about them. Even their average lifespan is a question.

I made a Northern Parula out of wool. This bird measures about 11 centimeters. It is made to order. The materials are wool, thread, wire, clay and glass.

Henslow’s sparrow .
These sparrows with large flat heads are named by John James Audubon after and in honor of his friend John Stevens Henslow, a minister, and botanist.

These birds are strictly colonial like gulls, swallows, terns, or herons.

These species are 4.3-5.1 in (11-13 cm) in length.

The extension of Henslow’s sparrow range is throughout North American. The winter and summer range of habitat is between the south-east United States and south-east Canada.

This sparrow is secretive and prefers to walk or run on the ground when threatened and they also forage near or on the ground.

It is quite difficult to locate Henslow’s sparrows’ nests because the birds walk some distance before leaving the nest or before arriving.

The Henslow’s sparrow is made to order. The bird measures about 12 cm. Materials - wool, wire, thread, clay, glass.

The splendid fairywren (Malurus splendens ) is a passerine bird in the Australasian wren family, Maluridae. It is also known simply as the splendid wren or more colloquially in Western Australia as the blue wren.
Their scientific name comes Malurus from the Greek world malacos meaning soft and oura meaning tail. Splendens come from the Latin word for shining.
Splendid fairy wrens are really small birds that are only about 4.7-5.5 in (12-14 cm) in size.
Splendid fairywrens are sexually dimorphic, meaning that males and females have different plumage. In this songbird’s case, it refers to the male’s much more vibrant blue color.
Their tails are always upright and still for a reason—to give them the right balance as they bounce or hop from one point to the next.
Whilst the Splendid is the strongest flier in the Fairywren family, its wings were not designed for extended jaunts.

Splendid fairy-wrens amazes with its beauty. I made this bird on my own initiative, without an order. It did not stay on my shelf for long and was quickly bought. Of course, it flew to its homeland in Australia.
In the future, I plan to make a couple - a male and a female.

Splendid fairywren is made of wool using the dry felting method. The size is about 13 cm. Materials - wool, wire and thread paws, clay beak and glass eyes.

Lesser spotted woodpecker made of wool. It measures about 15 centimeters. Some interesting facts about this bird. ⤵️

Hardly bigger than a sparrow, the lesser spotted woodpecker is much the smallest of the three species of woodpeckers that occur in the UK.

Lesser spotted woodpeckers can be spotted in woods, parklands, gardens, and orchards. They are found mainly in south-east England and occasionally northern England and Wales.

This elusive species presents a real birdwatching challenge.

Females are similar to males but have a white and black crown with no red markings. Like the adult male, juveniles of both sexes have a red cap but differ in having duller plumage.

The Whinchat is a bird with a short tail. As is tradition, I tell you some interesting facts about the new bird I made.

Whinchats are small heathland birds with a striking orange, brown and white plumage. They arrive in northern Europe to breed each spring, before breed in northern Europe returning to their wintering grounds in sub-Saharan Africa each autumn.
Whinchats are about the same size as robins (about 12-14 centimeters), with little difference in size between males and females.

Moorland and heathland are among the landscapes preferred by breeding whinchats, with grasslands, meadows, marshlands and rocky scrublands also being chosen as their nesting spots.

He scientific name for the species, Saxicola rubetra, means ‘small rock dweller’, while the English name ‘whinchat’ comes from ‘whin’, another name for the common gorse plant, and ‘chat’ in reference to the chattering call it makes.

Have you ever met this bird? If so, where?

The Indigo Bunting is a small bird known for its vibrant blue plumage. These birds are a delight to birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts alike. Let’s dive into some fascinating facts about these beautiful creatures.

Indigo buntings often navigate by night, using stars to find their way. They spend their summers in eastern North America and the American Southwest. They winter in Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean Islands.

Males are the only ones to sing. They each have their own complex song for use during the breeding season.  These birds are affectionately nicknamed “blue canaries” by some bird watchers.

Like other blue birds, the indigo bunting’s feathers lack blue pigment. Their beautiful cyan-blue tones result from the reflection of blue light (just like the blue sky).

Surprisingly, males are only blue during the breeding season (spring and summer). They molt in other seasons so that they present with brown plumage mottled with accents of blue.

Females are much different than males in their coloration. Year-round they are brown with a white throat. They may have a light touch of blue on their wings, tails, or rumps.

Despite their small size, some Indigo Buntings have been known to live up to 13 years in the wild.

Hi. I’m Julia. I’m 35 years old and I have a son. I’m a solo mom. I live in Serbia now.
I was born in Russia in the Perm region in the small town of Tchaikovsky (the city is named after the famous composer Tchaikovsky). From the age of 6, my mother taught me different handicrafts. I knitted, sewed, drew and sculpted from clay. At school, my favorite teacher instilled in me a caring attitude and love for nature.
At the end of 2020, I decided that I wanted to make money doing what I loved. I remembered what I loved as a child. And I started looking for my path. I wanted to combine these two qualities - love for creativity and love for nature.
I tried different types of handicrafts and eventually came to felting and birds. I was very fascinated by this activity. When I started making different birds, surprisingly, my sales started almost immediately. A few months later, I started Instagram. It was scary to post my work for everyone to see. But I received a lot of good reviews.
Individual orders came in. Over time, I realized that I was more interested in learning on my own. I did not take training courses. I felt that there were no limits in my head and I liked this “freedom”.
I sincerely love my work, I was able to combine my love for handicrafts and nature. And I think that this is a certain success. My birds are not just toys for me. I love each work myself. Sometimes I am very delighted with the result. I can send photos to my friends when no one has seen the bird yet. I watch my videos a million times and am surprised that I did it. It warms my soul to understand that my birds fly away to different countries. This was my dream from the very beginning.
Masters, what are you dreaming about? What has come true? And what is still ahead?

Canada jay or gray jay (Perisoreus canadensis) is a medium-sized songbird found in North America.

The habitat of these birds includes white spruce and black spruce. They are found in the boreal forest regions and live there for a whole year and avoid migration.

The gray jay size is 9.8-13 in (25-33 cm) in terms of length.

This species is famous for its ability to steal food items from the campsites and is also known as a camp robber.

Therefore, the food stolen is saved for the winter months as they do not travel much during the late winter. This bird covers the food using sticky saliva and store it or paste it on tree bark crevices and bark strips.

Another nickname for the gray jay is Whiskey Jack. The nickname doesn’t refer to the alcoholic beverage but comes from the traditional Indigenous Cree name Wisakedjak. The Cree shared stories of the shape-shifting gray jays that were tricksters but also wise teachers. To some First Nation tribes, the gray jay was a good omen in the morning, a sign of good fortune. Others believed the gray jay’s whistle was a warning sign to hunters that predators were nearby.

Gray jays are known to be intelligent birds. Their brain-to-body ratio indicates that they have an intelligence similar to that of dolphins. Their superior intelligence is one reason the Canadian people voted for the gray jay to represent them!

The bird is made of wool in full size (27 cm).

Where to put the leftover wool?
Friends, I adhere to the principles of environmental friendliness both in life and in work. If I can reuse something, I do.
After each bird, chopped wool remains, which can hardly be used anywhere. The fibers are too short. To avoid throwing it away, I wrap the leftovers in wool, which I use for the base of the bird. In the photo you can see the process.
I already roll colored wool onto this base.
This way my birds have almost no leftover materials to throw away.

The canary is a small songbird in the finch, or Fringillidae, family.

The entire canary species (Serinus canaria) originates from the CanariesEventually.

In the 15th century, sailors from the Canary Islands began importing tame songbirds to their homeland, Europe. The sailors named the new birds «kanario» after the place where they were brought from. This folk name remained for small birds. In different countries the name of the birds acquired a local sound.

The canaria can be yellow, or it can come in a variety of unique, flashy colors. These colors can include white, pink, orange, and more. However, yellow remains one of the most prevalent colors of canary.

The solid yellow canary is one of the most popular and well-known canaries, but did you know that it does not occur in the wild? In fact, no solid-colored canary can be found in the wild. Breeders set out to create the solid-colored canary to breed beautiful pets. That means observing the color composition of a canary’s feathers may help you determine whether it is domesticated or wild. Of course, domestic canaries can still come in non-solid colors, but wild canaries won’t be found in solid colors at all.

The canaries sold in pet stores are now genetically quite different from their wild canary ancestors.

Mentions of these songbirds can be found in the works of many writers. And some composers have tried to reproduce their singing in their works.
