Part of the Two Hand’s Picture Series which features serious wines with irreverent labelling, the name Angel’s Share is a playful nod to the small amount of wine that evaporates from oak barrels during maturation. Mediaeval winemakers assumed that angels watched over their wines and took their share. Harvested from McLaren Vale, the birthplace of South Australia’s wine industry and home to some of the world’s oldest vineyards, the 𝗧𝘄𝗼 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗹’𝘀 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗮𝘇 ($̶𝟱̶𝟱̶ $𝟰𝟴) is magenta to black, exuding notes of black cherry, raspberry, liquorice and pink peppercorn-rolled pastrami. A prestigious domain born in 1959, the Chablis icon Domaine William Fevre is entering a new era under the leadership of the DBR Lafite family, where respect for the Chablis terroir remains as much at its heart as it did for William. Arguably one of Burgundy’s greatest estates, owning the largest array of Premier and Grand Cru vineyards in Chablis, the estate’s vineyards in the historic terroirs of Chablis are made up of 78 hectares and 90 separate parcels that enjoy both great complexity and incredible richness. Recognised by many as ‘the red Stripe’, d’Arenberg is one of the undisputed kings of Australian Shiraz and other Rhone varieties that have historically defined the region. With a philosophy to be different, d’Arenberg produces a broad range of wines with quirky names and labels. The Dead Arm Shiraz is named after a vine disease caused by the fungus Eutypa Lata that randomly affects vineyards, causing one half, or an ‘arm’ of the vine to slowly be reduced to dead wood. This would be a fun label for dads with an eclectic taste. Part of Silverado’s Luxury Collection, GEO was inspired by the root word for earth and the name of the vineyard, representing the highest expression of single vineyard Cabernet. The 𝗦𝗶𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗼 𝗚𝗘𝗢 𝗖𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘁 𝗦𝗮𝘂𝘃𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗼𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟴 ($̶𝟭̶𝟰̶𝟮̶ $𝟭𝟭𝟵) is rich and concentrated, with well-knit layers of black cherry liquor, coca, nutmeg, toasted oak, and tea leaves. Saurwein, the namesake brand of Jessica Saurwein, is a boutique South African winery where she focuses on handcrafting her two favourite cultivars, Pinot Noir and Riesling. Crafted from a vineyard that lies 700 metres above sea level, Nom stands for nombulelo, gratitude in “Xhosa” and Nomkhubulwane, a forgotten African goddess of agriculture. Intense and powerful, the 𝗦𝗮𝘂𝗿𝘄𝗲𝗶𝗻 𝗡𝗼𝗺 𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗡𝗼𝗶𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟭 ($̶𝟵̶𝟬̶ $𝟳𝟮) presents notes of mixed red and dark berry fruit, rose hip, lifted cocoa, umami and roasted chestnuts, as well as the unique orange rind character imparted by the vineyard. The palate shows red and black cherry fruit, umami, roasted chestnuts, silky medium grained tannins, and a lovely balanced acidity. This gorgeous wine will gather further complexity with age.

With a history dating back to the 17th century, Château Bellefont Belcier was officially founded in the 18th century by Count Louis Francois de Belcier. Bellefont, or Belle Fontaine, which translates to beautiful fountains, was inspired by the numerous natural springs scattered across the area. With an exceptional terroir neighbouring the likes of Pavie and Troplong Mondot, this Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé is a gorgeous expression of the appellation. Deep garnet purple, 𝗖𝗵â𝘁𝗲𝗮𝘂 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘁 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟲 ($̶𝟭̶𝟭̶𝟴̶ $𝟵𝟱) exudes delicate dried flowers, garrigue, dusty soil and smoked meats over warm black plums and blackberry preserves with hints of menthol. Concentrated fruits of cut lime, pear and custard apple on the palate, with a delicately textured and layered mid-palate defined by natural laced acidity. Long finish with gentle talc-like tension.

John Walker & Sons King George V Lunar New Year Limited Edition

𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐞𝐫 & 𝐒𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐞𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞 𝐕 was created to celebrate the monarch who granted Johnnie Walker its first Royal Warrant in 1934. The whisky makers drew on their archives to handpick whiskies from distilleries that existed during his reign. This includes some of the rarest in Johnnie Walker’s reserves, such as 𝐢𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐬 from the now-closed 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐄𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧 distillery.
