Avignonesi, located in the Tuscan hills near Montepulciano and Cortona, has been known for quality winemaking since the 1970s. Significant transformation occurred in 2008 when Belgian industrialist Virginie Saverys took over, focusing on converting vineyards to biodynamic and organic farming. This shift elevated the quality of the wines while staying true to the terroir. Renowned as a Sangiovese specialist, Avignonesi also champions other indigenous red and white varieties, addressing climate change challenges. O amor pela terra, a paixão pelos vinhos e os seus aromas, e o desafio de valorizar uma casta pouco apreciada, a Tinta Negra, levaram ao sonho de Diana Silva: afirmar-se como a mais jovem produtora de vinhos na Madeira.

Com uma abordagem inovadora e autêntica, nasceu uma nova linha de vinhos com o nome oficial de “Ilha”.

Diana, uma autodidata que construiu sua trajetória com determinação, apostou nas parcerias com viticultores locais, especialmente em São Vicente, região da Madeira que ela acredita ser a mais promissora para a casta Tinta Negra. Ela vê nessa casta o futuro da viticultura da ilha e a chave para elevar o prestígio dos vinhos DOP Madeirenses.

“Nenhuma casta ao longo dos séculos se adaptou tão bem como a Tinta Negra.
É a nossa casta e produz vinhos únicos, ímpares”, afirma Diana, que promete continuar a investir nessa variedade injustamente subestimada.

Assim como a Tinta Negra, Diana se considera resiliente. Ela já passou por diversas experiências profissionais até começar a realizar seu sonho.

Com uma produção limitada – cerca de 3.500 garrafas de vinho tinto e branco, e aproximadamente 3.900 garrafas de rosé – os vinhos da linha “Ilha” destacam-se pela elegância, pelo baixo teor alcoólico (11,5% a 12%) e por seu caráter singular.

Mais do que adquiri-los, vai sentir vontade de saboreá-los repetidamente... e, com eles, redescobrir a Madeira através do “Ilha”.

Pascal Agrapart farms his vines conscientiously, avoiding herbicides, pesticides, and choosing to till the soils to encourage the roots to go deeper. In the cellar he ferments in a combination of tank and wood, with the vintage wines seeing significant time on the lees. The resulting Champagnes are deeply mineral and display great distinction between individual cuvées. All are nervy, balancing power with precision, with great expression of soils and subsoils, be they chalk, clay, or a combination thereof. This transparency shows across the entire lineup, from the generous non-vintage 7 Crus which is made up of Grand Cru Chardonnay from parcels located across the seven Côte des Blancs villages where Agrapart has vines, to Venus, a cuvée derived from a single 300-meter-square parcel of old vines in Avize that is profoundly lean, chalky and taut. For lovers of terroir and Champagne, Agrapart produces Champagnes that are immensely compelling.
