During the early 20’s all the children in this town attended classes in a single school at Bagumbayan. Luckily after several years Pililla Elementary School Annex was established. The area which occupied was a piece of land owned by Cornelio Vidanes and Andrea Chuapoco. The first building was made of nipa and bamboo and an old dispensary was also used temporarily. The school site was purchased in 1938 by the municipal government. The site was improved by the parents for the District Meet during that time. Later on, a one room building was constructed with Mr. Juan Sevilla as a teacher. War broke out in 1941 and classes were suspended. The Japanese occupied the land thy made the school as the sentry and later burned the building. Then, Liberations came and the school site was occupied by the Americans as their headquarters of the 14th B.C.T. A two-room building was then put up to house the pupils. The teachers at that time were Mrs. Barbara Cervantes and Mr. Juan Sevilla As the population increased, the school became a complete primary school with Miss Trinidad Carbonell and Miss Leticia Melendres as new teachers. Later on, in the early 50’s, Miss Virginia Martinez and Miss Sofia Licodino was assigned to this school. In 1962, the school became independent with Mrs.Gloria P. Martin as the first Teacher-in-charge. There was an increase in enrolment and there were seven teachers. In 1969, Miss San Diego was assigned as the teacher-in-charge. There were 12 classes and 14 teachers. In 1971, Typhoon Yoling hit the country and all the school building were destroyed. Some classes were housed in under houses which were sub- standard. A year later, the school was under water for 3 months. The school population evacuated to the Central school. Emergency classes were held. At that time, the newly elected mayor was Hon. Virgilio B. Melendres. He was so much concerned about the education of the children that he sympathized them in this deplorable situation. Many of them are now professionals like teachers, nurses, doctors, engineers, CPA’s, and others. V. Socio-Economic ( Cultural )

Those who received low education have their small business like chicharon making, pig raising, weaving and sari sari store in their own houses. Others remain as farmers and fishermen
