Jim Clendenen (1953-2021) was set to pursue law until a one month stay in Burgundy and Champagne convinced him otherwise.

After completing three harvests in a year on different continents, along with a learning opportunity in France, Jim made the decision to create Burgundian-style wines in Santa Barbara County.

Up to this day, the winery maintains its production of traditional, site-specific, nuanced, iconic wines – all thanks to Jim Clendenen, the mind behind Au Bon Climat. 🍷
