Last November 8, we gathered for an intimate dinner called "Eternal Vines," hosted by the energetic Mr. Tim Mondavi, founder of Continuum Estate. Mr. Mondavi took us on a heartfelt journey through his family's rich history, sharing his passion for finding the perfect place for them to continue and express their love for wine, while also giving us a glimpse into their future.

As we savored each of the featured wines, perfectly paired with our delightful dishes, the warmth of shared conversations and laughter filled the air, making the evening even more memorable. A heartfelt thank you to M Dining restaurant for providing a lovely venue, delectable food, and exceptional service that truly enhanced the experience for all the guests.

In an awe-inspiring turn of events recounted by Jancis Robinson, Continuum recently bested an illustrious 2021 lineup of some of Napa’s most iconic winemakers. The blind tasting was hosted by Florence Cathiard of Château Smith Haut Lafitte and Cathiard Vineyard, bringing together some of the most revered names in the wine world, including Screaming Eagle, Scarecrow, and Dominus. Eisele Vineyard
When Artemis Domaines acquired Araujo Estate in 2013, it inherited a legacy of forty vintages bearing the Eisele Vineyard designation. These wines are characterized by exceptional balance, elegance, and restraint, offering a pure and honest expression of the vineyard. The current winemaking team felt humbled by the knowledge that giving voice to this remarkable place would be both a privilege and a challenge.

As they continue to shape the history of , they are committed to upholding the spirit of stewardship that has defined its past. Their journey is one of exploration to understand the vineyard more profoundly, including its geological structure, the variations in terroir, and the nature of its ancient soils.

The AVA:

Calistoga AVA
Calistoga is located at the top of the Napa Valley and is one of the most geologically uniform of all the Napa Valley AVAs, featuring primarily volcanic soil. All of the Calistoga AVA lies above 300 feet above sea level and vineyards are planted as high as 1200 feet above sea level. Typically higher elevation corresponds with cooler night time temperatures allowing for more acid retention and more balanced wines. It was officially recognized as an American Viticultural Area in 2010.

GROTH VINEYARDS & WINERY. America’s first 100-point wine*. It all began from being Napa weekend warriors in pursuit of the dream vineyard, and being spurred by the successful launch of the world’s first video console in 1982 by then tech start-up Atari, a time when Dennis Groth was Atari CFO. In short order, Dennis, wife Judy, and their fledgling team accomplished another first, the first 100-point wine in the USA, Groth Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 1985, a product of that dream vineyard in Oakville. The feat confirmed that the Napa wine region had then and truly come into its own.

Groth’s embodiment of the American pioneering spirit persists to this day, consistently recognized by wine critics as being among the top quality wine producers of the USA. It has been in Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Wines 8 times since.

Joe Heitz was a gifted winemaker whose unwavering commitment to quality contributed to the renaissance of California winemaking. Formally trained at UC Davis, he received a Master's Degree in Enology and began working in the Napa Valley in 1951 with André Tchelistcheff at Beaulieu. A firm believer in education, he accepted the opportunity to set up the first enology department at Fresno State. Joe's entrepreneurial spirit led him back to the Napa Valley in 1961, where he and his wife, Alice, founded Heitz Wine Cellars, building a successful family business. He produced wines celebrated for their exceptional quality and proven ageability, highlighted by the legendary Martha's Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, one of the first iconic single-vineyard designations.

Their estate vineyards are planted in six of Napa Valley’s sub-appellations: Oakville, Rutherford, St. Helena, Howell Mountain, Oak Knoll District, and Calistoga, giving them an incredible breadth of diversity in terroir and allowing them to craft wines that are a pure representation of a place.
