Young rioters clashed with police into early Sunday and targeted a mayor's home with a burning car as France saw a fifth night of unrest sparked by the police killing of a teenager, but overall violence appeared to lessen compared with previous nights.

The Interior Ministry said early Sunday that 719 people were arrested, 45 police and other gendarmes were injured, 577 vehicles and 74 buildings were set on fire and 871 fires were recorded on public roads.

Amid the rioting, French President Emmanuel Macron postponed what would have been the first state visit to Germany by a French president in 23 years.

Here is how the events have unfolded.

Clashes between protesters and police continued in cities across France. “We don’t forget, we don’t forgive,” crowds chanted.

A stampede at a Ramadan food distribution centre in Pakistan’s southern city of Karachi has killed at least 11 people, all women and children, according to police and rescue officials.

Several people were also injured in Friday’s incident, which happened when hundreds of people panicked and started pushing each other to collect food outside a factory. Some of them fell into a nearby drain, police official Mughees Hashmi said.

Residents said a wall also collapsed near the drain, injuring and killing people amid the stampede.

PARIS, March 30 (Reuters) - President Emmanuel Macron's drive to ram through legislation raising France's retirement age despite mass protests is creating rifts between ministers and his allies amid frustration that the government has not resolved the standoff, insiders say.

Ministers and lawmakers are trading blame for the failure to build broader support for Macron's flagship policy, and some members of his own party are uneasy with his move to use executive powers to push the bill through parliament.

Jerusalem(CNN)Massive crowds filled the streets of the Israeli city of Tel Aviv late Sunday night after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fired his defense minister over his opposition to a planned judicial overhaul.

Waving Israeli flags and chanting "democratia," protestors could be seen blocking streets and bridges, including the Ayalon Highway.

Protesters lit several fires on the main highway in Tel Aviv, their acrid, black smoke billowing into the sky, partly obscuring some of the city's iconic skyscrapers. By around 2 a.m. local time in Tel Aviv, protests had thinned out but live pictures from the scene showed security forces firing water cannons on those still gathered.

ATHENS, March 8 (Reuters) - Tens of thousands of people took to the streets of Greece on Wednesday and workers went on strike in the biggest show of public anger yet over the country's deadliest train disaster that killed 57 people last week.

The crash on Feb. 28 has stirred public outrage over the crumbling state of the rail network. Striking workers say years of neglect, underinvestment and understaffing - a legacy of Greece's decade-long debt crisis - are to blame.

Jerusalem(CNN)Half a million Israelis took to the streets in the tenth consecutive week of protests against plans by the government of Benjamin Netanyahu to overhaul the country's judicial system, organizers claimed.

Israel has a population of just over 9 million, so if organizers' estimates are correct, about 5% of Israelis came out to voice their opposition to the proposed reforms.

Nearly half of the protesters -- about 240,000 -- gathered in Tel Aviv, the organizers said. In Jerusalem, several hundred demonstrators gathered in front of President Isaac Herzog's house. They carried Israeli flags and chanted slogans including "Israel will not be a dictatorship."
