“Isang Bata na Nag pagupit sa Barbero”

Barbero: Toy , Alam mo Hindi ako naniniwalang may Diyos.

A Prayer for Persons Suffering from the Coronavirus

You shall not fear the terror of the night
nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that roams in darkness,
nor the plague that ravages at noon.
Ps 91:5-6

Merciful God, hear our fervent prayer for all who suffer from the coronavirus.

May those who are infected receive the proper treatment and the comfort of your healing presence.

May their caregivers, families and neighbors be shielded
from the onslaught of the virus.
Give solace to those who grieve the loss of loved ones.

Protect and guide those who strive to find a cure, that their work may conquer the disease and restore communities to wholeness and health.

Help us to rise above fear.

We ask all this through the intercession of Our Lady of Lourdes, and in the name of your Son, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, now and forever.
Amen.

Jesus Christ, you traveled through towns and villages “curing every disease and illness.” At your command, the sick were made well. Come to our aid now, in the midst of the global spread of the coronavirus, that we may experience your healing love.

Heal those who are sick with the virus. May they regain their strength and health through quality medical care.

Heal us from our fear, which prevents nations from working together and neighbors from helping one another.

Heal us from our pride, which can make us claim invulnerability to a disease that knows no borders.

Jesus Christ, healer of all, stay by our side in this time of uncertainty and sorrow.

Be with those who have died from the virus. May they be at rest with you in your eternal peace.

Be with the families of those who are sick or have died. As they worry and grieve, defend them from illness and despair. May they know your peace.

Be with the doctors, nurses, researchers and all medical professionals who seek to heal and help those affected and who put themselves at risk in the process. May they know your protection and peace.

Be with the leaders of all nations. Give them the foresight to act with charity and true concern for the well-being of the people they are meant to serve. Give them the wisdom to invest in long-term solutions that will help prepare for or prevent future outbreaks. May they know your peace, as they work together to achieve it on earth.

Whether we are home or abroad, surrounded by many people suffering from this illness or only a few, Jesus Christ, stay with us as we endure and mourn, persist and prepare. In place of our anxiety, give us your peace.

Jesus Christ, heal us.

The crucifix can help us better commit our lives and live the words of Christ when He said, “deny yourselves, take up your cross daily, and follow Me” (Matthew 16:24). When some type of suffering comes our way, the image of the crucifix gives us spiritual strength and inspiration to live out our commitment to Him.

Rose Scented Rosary from Italy

The word Rosary means "Crown of Roses". Our Lady has revealed to several people that each time they say a Hail Mary they are giving her a beautiful rose and that each complete Rosary makes her a crown of roses. The rose is the queen of flowers, and so the Rosary is the rose of all devotions and it is therefore the most important one. The Holy Rosary is considered a perfect prayer because within it lies the awesome story of our salvation.

This very special Rose Scented Rosary is a symbolic collection of roses that the christian offers to Mary "the mystic rose".

The scent of roses when no flowers are present is thought to be a sign that God’s presence is with us or a blessing from God is imminent.

In 1858, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to a 14-year-old French peasant girl, St. Bernadette Soubirous. The first appearance was on Feb. 11, and she would meet with Bernadette a total of 18 times through July 16 of that year.

On Feb. 11, Bernadette went to gather firewood with her sister and a friend. She saw light coming from a rosebush at a grotto near the river, and in that light, a woman in a white dress appeared, holding a rosary. The woman made the sign of the Cross, so Bernadette knelt, took out her own rosary, and began to pray. When they had finished the rosary, the woman motioned for Bernadette to come closer, but she hesitated, and the woman disappeared.

Bernadette’s friend and sister had not seen anything, and Bernadette swore them to secrecy, but they quickly spread the story. The next Sunday, Bernadette returned and saw the lady again.

On her third trip on Feb. 18, Bernadette was accompanied by several adults, but only she was able to see the woman. The lady asked her to return for two weeks, telling her that she could not promise to make Bernadette happy in this world, but in the next.

Over the next few days, as Bernadette kept returning to the grotto, crowds gathered to join her, but no one else saw the lady. On Feb. 24, 250 people surrounded Bernadette as the lady told her: “Penance! Penance! Penance! Pray to God for sinners. Go, kiss the ground for the conversion of sinners.” Bernadette wept and did as she had asked. She continued to drink muddy water and eat weeds as penance for sinners, and the onlookers quickly began to ridicule her.

On Feb. 27, Bernadette found that the spring she had been drinking from was no longer muddy, but now ran clear. A woman from the crowd with a paralyzed arm came to the water, hoping to be healed. Four years later, this was recognized as the first miraculous healing at Lourdes. There have been 67 verified cases of miraculous healings at that stream.

The woman eventually began telling Bernadette that the priests must bring people in procession, and have a chapel built on the site. Many believed now that Bernadette was seeing the Blessed Mary, but when she asked the vision, the woman smiled and remained silent.

Finally, on the Feast of the Annunciation, Bernadette came to the grotto, and asked the lady her name. The woman folded her hands and said “I am the Immaculate Conception.” Although Bernadette did not know what that meant, her parish priest was stunned, and told the local bishop.

Mary appeared to Bernadette twice more, on the Wednesday after Easter and on the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. After a four-year investigation, the bishop declared the apparitions to be real, and worth believing.

In 1866, Bernadette left Lourdes to join a religious order, where she served until her death in 1879. A basilica was built and consecrated at the grotto at Lourdes.

The Medal of the Immaculate Conception, popularly known as the Miraculous Medal, is unique among all medals.

The Miraculous Medal was created in response to a request from the Blessed Virgin Mary, who entrusted us with our mission. It was given by the Blessed Virgin Mary herself! No wonder, then, that it gives such extraordinary graces to those who wear it and pray for Mary’s intercession and help. Our Lady manifested the Medal to St. Catherine Labouré on November 27, 1830, in the motherhouse of the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul and St. Louise de Marillac, in Paris.

Catherine saw Our Lady standing on a globe, with dazzling rays of light streaming from her outstretched hands. Framing the figure was an inscription: “O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.” Then Mary spoke to Catherine: “Have a medal struck upon this model. Those who wear it will receive great graces, especially if they wear it around the neck.”

The vision then seemed to turn to show the reverse of the Medal: the letter M surmounted by a cross with a bar at its base; below this monogram, the Sacred Heart of Jesus crowned with thorns, and the Immaculate Heart of Mary pierced with a sword.

St. Benedict medals are used in many ways, but always as a protection against evil. Some people bury them in the foundations of new buildings to keep them free from evil influences, while others attach them to rosaries or hang them on the wall in their homes. But the most common way to use the St. Benedict medal is to wear it. The medal can be worn by itself or embedded in a crucifix, like the one pictured.

If you don’t own a St. Benedict medal, I highly recommend you get one. It’s basic protection, like the bullet proof vest of sacramentals!
