Happening: REGIONAL LABOR MARKET FORECAST 2025-2026 FINAL CONSULTATION at The Chalet Hotel, Military Cut-Off, Baguio City

The consultation will provide the final inputs based on the Consultation of the Regional Jobsfit Labor Market Forecast 2025-2026 held last August 22, 2024.

The session will culminate with the sharing of inputs and the consultation proper of all the private and public sector shareholders.

The 2025-2026 Labor Market Forecast is part of the Department of Labor and Employment's efforts to assess and address workforce demands and skills gaps across various industries in the region.

This initiative aligns with DOLE’s broader goals of reducing job-skills mismatches and improving employment outcomes. The consultation typically includes stakeholders from government, industry, and education sectors to align on emerging labor market trends, forecast demand in key sectors like IT-BPM, agriculture, healthcare, and construction, and develop strategic employment programs for the upcoming years​.

The Labor Market Forecast is grounded on several legal frameworks that guide labor market policies in the Philippines. The primary law is the Labor Code of the Philippines (Presidential Decree No. 442), which outlines the rights and obligations of workers and employers.

Republic Act No. 875, or the Industrial Peace Act, also supports labor consultations to prevent job-skills mismatches. The consultation process also aligns with ILO Convention No. 122, which promotes policies for full, productive, and freely chosen employment. These frameworks help shape labor market forecasts and employment strategies in line with national and international standards.

The Final Consultation aims to provide a comprehensive labor market report that identifies trends, sectoral employment demands, and skills gaps. This forecast will help guide policy decisions, educational institutions, and training programs, by aligning them with industry needs.

It will benefit job seekers by offering insights into in-demand skills and occupations, enabling them to pursue relevant training. Employers and policymakers can also use this data to address labor shortages, develop workforce strategies, and improve economic opportunities in the region.

Kung ikaw ay isang 'first time jobseeker', fresh graduate sa mataas na paaralan, nagtamo ng vocational course, o nagbabalak maging working student—basta't mag-a-apply ng trabaho sa unang pagkakataon, maaari mong makuha ang ilang pre-employment documents nang libre. Ito ay sa bisa ng Republic Act No. 11261 o First Time Jobseekers Assistance Act (FTJAA) na nilagdaan noong 2019.

Ang nasabing batas ay tugong pinansiyal sa paghahanap ng trabaho na kinahaharap ng mga first time jobseekers. Sa pagsasalibre ng ilang pre-employment documents, mapadadali ang pagtamo ng kapakipakinabang at disenteng trabaho.

Historic CBAs Signed by Lepanto Consolidated Mining Company, Promising Industrial Peace

In a landmark achievement, Lepanto Consolidated Mining Company (LCMCo) signed two new collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) with labor unions in Baguio City on July 5, at the prestigious Baguio Country Club.

The agreements were signed with the Lepanto Local Employees Union (LLEU), led by President Johnny Bayobay, and the Lepanto Local Staff Union (LLSU), led by President Ariel Candelario.

LCMCo President, COO, and Executive Director Bryan U. Yap, together with VP for Human Resources and Administration Knestor Godino, played pivotal roles in the negotiations. The process was also witnessed by officials and representatives from the Department of Labor and Employment Cordillera and the National Conciliation and Mediation Board Cordillera regional offices.

Yap attributed the swift and successful negotiations to mutual trust and compassion., to which Godino also highlighted the efficiency and cooperation involved.

Candelario expressed pride in the accomplishment, stating, "This speaks volumes about our unity. This is a vow of partnership in overcoming challenges and a tangible recognition of our hard work, dignity, and respect in our workforce process."

The LLEU represents 942 members, while the LLSU comprises 222 members.

The DOLE Cordillera Director Nathaniel V. Lacambra, CESO III, has praised the recent signing of two collective bargaining agreements, towards efficient labor relations. The agreements concluded in record time, are seen as a significant step toward industrial peace and enhanced worker-management cooperation.

This milestone, praised as the fastest resolution in the company's history, promises to bring sustained industrial peace. The CBA is a significant step forward that underscores the mutual commitment to fostering a harmonious and respectful working environment, ensuring the continued success and stability of one of the oldest mining companies in the country.

Proclamation No. 1180, declares the month of July of every year as the National Anti-trafficking in Persons Awareness Month.

This year's theme is "Isang Nasyon, Isang Akson: Sa bagong Pilipinas, Tapusin ang Trafficking Ngayon".

All local government units, agencies, and instrumentalities of the National Government, including the DOLE Cordillera actively participate and will render the necessary support and assistance for the effective implementation of this Proclamation.

DOLE Cordillera and BJMP CORDILLERA Sign MOA for PDLs DILEEP Assistance

Dole Car and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology – Cordillera (BJMP CORDILLERA) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on “Work Opportunities for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) while in jail and upon release as part of their Aftercare” on 08 July 2024, at the 3rd floor DOLE-CAR Conference Hall.
