The story of Emily’s Garden Gin is full of spirit! Quite literally.

The story goes that there was a little girl, Emily, who resided at Waikino Hotel and now her ghost haunts the grounds. So it only seemed appropriate to create a gin in her honour, from our Bay of Plenty gardens…infused with Sage, Basil and Kaffir Lime.

WE JUST WON SILVER AT THE IWSC AWARDS! 🥈

And…..guess what – we won, not one, but TWO silver medals at the International Wine & Spirit Competition - IWSC!

Our Agatha’s Tears Dark Gin and Emily's Garden Gin were both awarded in London from over 4,000 spirits entries from around the world.

The international judges noted that Agatha’s Tears Dark Gin is a "Vibrant blue hue, clear botanical notes of citrus, pepper, and curry leaf on the nose. Sweet citrus palate with a full floral character. Long, satisfying finish, full of character. Well-made."

While Emily's Garden Gin is "An expressive tipple with pronounced flavours. Sweet tea, jasmine and peach notes are supported by warming botanicals, evolving into a complex, caramelised finish."

To achieve this distinction, Kaimai Distilling Company needed high scores in three categories: Quality, Value, and Packaging. This weekend you'll find us at Gindulgence in Christchurch where we'll be serving up G&T's alongside some sweet bottle deals!

The following Thursday you'll find us dishing out samples of the perfect beach hop drop - our Apple Pie Moonshine - at Superliquor Whangamata 3-6pm where you can grab yourself a bottle (or two!).

All beach hop week we'll have cracker deals on our Moonshine at the Waikino Hotel so don't forget to drop in! Not to mention the great food and cold beer 😏

Today I’d like to make a shout-out to my wonderful employer and director of Kaimai Brewing and Distilling, Wayne Chowles.

My name is Leah and I have the pleasure of working alongside Wayne at his company, Kaimai Brewing and Distilling, where we create an exceptional range of award-winning spirits.

Being the humble man he is, Wayne was reluctant to share the news of his latest achievement, so I’ve taken it upon myself to make the announcement…
