Saturday night saw the opening night at Stratford Speedway after 2 rain outs .
A slightly depleted field of cars than originally planned fronted for the city of New Plymouth classic. Ex mini- stock competitor Aaron Barkla made his meeting debut and drove very well showing great pace straight away , brilliant to see another new young competitor entering the class , father Mark and Aaron will share driving duties this season at Stratford.
Great to also see the return to the track of Blair Luscombe after having a season off .
Race wins went the way of 12s and 21a &21a
So our first championship for the season has been run with the podium being

1st Newton Gordge
2nd Jason Kalin
3rd Braith Kalin

Braith kalin representing the Stratford Modifieds in the Weekend at the North/South modified invasion at eastern states speedway in Blenheim.
Braith scored his first feature win on the Friday night, was top qualifier for the weekend and finished 3rd in the invasion feature on the Saturday night.

Stratfords own Jason kalin capped of a good couple of weekends racing placing 2nd last weekend in the Gold Rush at Greymouth speedway, and winning the Bay of plenty champs held on Easter Saturday at Paradise Valley Speedway Rotorua .

The young & the old, up against each other this weekend at the Plant & Fabrication Services New Zealand Modified Champs …
9S Rookie may be the youngest driver out there this weekend.
But he has done many laps around Stratford in youth Ministock’s.
12S Tubby & Dave are no strangers to the NZ modified champs and have showed some great pace in recent weeks , a bit of luck and who knows ?

No stranger to speedway, competing in the Plant & Fabrication Services New Zealand Modified Champ’s, is the 11s raceworks driven by Ricky Paul .
Ricky has been doing double duty this season and has been running a stockcar also . Will all those extra laps around Stratford this season be an advantage come the end of the weekend remains to be seen, but rest assured Ricky will be determined to qualify this weekend.
