We attended The Anzac Day ceremony at the Papanui RSA this morning. A very brisk Christchurch morning and a wonderful service. It was a good chance to make new acquaintances and catch up with some old faces.

New Zealand in 2023: The criminals are roaming the streets and the victims are behind bars. This is what happens when the Government has the wrong values and forgets that its first job is to protect people from criminals.

Meghan Woods the Labour MP for Wigram visited the Dairy on Friday, (Photo courtesy of Chris Lynch Media). I thought long and hard about putting up a post and initially decided not to, but after what I see as a debacle and silly antics over the last few days regarding several political leaders that hold seats, I decided to forge ahead with it.
During her quick visit, I discussed a number of topics, obviously regarding youth crime. It is my belief that activists(ism) in politics is one of the likely contributors to this and we never talk about it. Examples I see would be Debbie Ngarewa Packer on TikToc, the recent comments by Marama Davidson to the media, or Rawiri Waititi using long-outdated language when referring to descendants of early settlers, to the rhetoric you find coming from the extreme right with groups such as The western Guard or the Dominion Movement, both centred on white supremacy, who mainly have an online presence in places on the web where it is attractive for youth to go. Combine this with other pressure we have placed on youth regarding climate change, the tribulations we all went through with Covid and lockdowns, it is little wonder they are acting out.
With examples like these, adults have created, with little regard for their well-being, a confused adolescent, which I might add some other politicians want to give the right to vote to, they even campaign with them for that right. All this meddling creates confusion which manifests as anger because they don't fully understand the emotions they are feeling, the end result is what we are witnessing now.

I also slipped in The Bradford Generation theory, the Government of the day, 16 odd years ago took away a sometimes useful tool from parents but failed to provide a replacement tool or method of discipline. Now parents are afraid to discipline because of the stigma & repercussions, and parental discipline has eroded. As we all know the anti-smacking bill as a remedy for abuse and violence against children was never achieved.
It is little wonder today's youth are acting out their emotions, as I said it is my belief there is no room for activism in politics as it is a contributing factor.
We briefly discussed wrap-around services for youth offenders but it is my belief any rehabilitative action must start with parents, this is where the main effort should be. They need to be the most influential figure in our youths' lives along with a teacher, any more adult intervention and again we confuse them.
I also informed her of dairy owners we know of who are taking turns doing "Sentry" in their shops during the hours their business is closed. others throughout the country are sleeping on the premise in case of raids. All while trying to hold their own families together.

If a Member of Parliament wants to help, the one thing they need to do is listen to their constituents not debate them as if they are in the house debating the opposition. I do not care what the Prime Minister has done to Stuart Nash whilst I am fixing my shop door after a criminal has kicked it in. To me, their time is better served assisting the community in bringing crime under control through sound and effective policy which both supports and holds parents and children to account. As for offering victims help, several agencies are working hard to achieve this already, and politicians do those agencies a disservice trying to hold them to account to impress me!

Your comments are appreciated but I would not want to see this post turn into a political debate please, it should remain what I intended it to be, what is good for or best for our youth.

A big shout out to Canterbury Glass for the 2nd sheet of glass for our door in 2 weeks! A small celebration as it has lasted longer than 7 days 🤩

Did I mention Action Security just finished the installation of a fog canon. Against Police advice and despite receiving numerous warnings, I am still trying to insert a CS gas canister into it to ensure the next youth crime offender has a really bad day out. 🤧🤮😨=🤣🤣

Disclaimer* Obviously the only truth in the above statement is we now have a fog canon!

"Values change on crime"
now I have spoken to Nats & Act and passed on the sentiment in the remarks on this page, it will be interesting to see what Labour have to say to me!

Today we had a quick visit from Toni Severin, she is an ACT Party list MP for Christchurch, we have met Toni before at the Christchurch Dairy crime protest in The CBD late last year. It was good to see her again and catch up to discuss recent events and developments.
It was strange that Toni commented that this recent spate of crime has not made into mainstream media. One would think these incidents would be newsworthy enough for all residents to know about, or have we just started to accept these crimes as an everyday occurrence. I know some dairy owners have stopped reporting them because of their lack of faith in current crime/offender policy, maybe it's the same with media! I will see if the MP for Wigram can shed any more light on this when she arrives!

We had a lovely surprise visitor at the Dairy this morning, Tracy Summerfield, The National Party's Representative for Wigram.
Tracy popped in to pass on her sentiments regarding what the Dairy has been through just this year. She ended up staying for about 3 hours and had her ear chewed off by me. As you can see in the photo she is trying to leave and I am contemplating what to say next 🤣
It was a great opportunity to reinforce what all of you have either said on this page or over the counter in the dairy the last few days.

It was very reassuring to hear that the message from the National Party was exactly the same as we are hearing from you guys regarding youth crime & soft-on-crime policies that drive ineffective policing and sentencing.

Thank you for the visit Tracy, that and your efforts are appreciated!

Sent this to the Member of Parliament for the Wigram Ward this morning, Thanks to all of you who share the same sentiment, or gave me inspiration. Not one single person who has entred the dairy has defended current policy and inaction!

Good morning,
I am the co-owner of 2 small business in your electorate: an independent lawn mowing business which I started after retiring from 31 years’ service in the Military, and The Racecourse Dairy which my partner runs on a day to day basis. I was born, schooled in, and we now reside in this electorate.

The Dairy has suffered 5 incidents in the last 3 years, the first being an aggravated robbery involving a firearm and the 2 most recent being 7 days apart involving the front door being smashed in. It is worthy of noting this was the 3rd incident this year!
All stories regarding burglaries can found on Chris Lynch Media, where you can also see I was confronted by a hammer wielding Individual, then nearly run over by a stolen fleeing vehicle, all whilst trying to protect my property and investment.

I am very disappointed that your office has not reached out and contacted us, to ensure our financial and physical and mental wellbeing are being adequately maintained. As for some dairy owners it is not!
I am now challenging you to front up to us with an explanation why this is happening in your electorate, what you are doing about it, and how the government is going to prevent crime escalating in the future, including plans for successful pathways and models for both punitive and constructive re-education policy for youth of today and tomorrow, which must include sound ethics and values based principle education that aligns ones moral compass, enabling them to support their community, not destroy it!

We have a lot of foot traffic through our doors with a consensus that the blame lays at this government and previous progressive governments door, with some terming this generation as “The Bradford Generation”, a very fitting description I think. Like us, these people do not feel safe anymore and deserve an explanation and an opportunity to glimpse the light at the end of the tunnel.

If you want to gauge the current feeling of your constituents make the effort to meet us!

I look forward to your response.

Regards

Chris Lynch story on the burglary yesterday morning

19/03/2023

After a very challenging 7 days a very resilient Jane is back at work Monday morning in the Racecourse Dairy.
If your following us please don't forget to share.

Hello everyone, firstly I would like to thank all those either following us or liking our posts, it's really encouraging.
Unfortunately, we had another break-in early this morning, they caused quite a bit of damage to gain entry but did not take anything of real value.
This time I was in a better position to challenge them mid-heist and like silly young youths, once challenged they exited the scene very smartly in a stolen vehicle, narrowly missing me! Between me the cameras and the evidence they left on the scene, police will be able to paint an excellent picture.
Chris Lynch ( Chris Lynch Media) will be doing a more in-depth story tomorrow so look out for that. I am now approaching local MPs and demanding they visit, coincidently, ours happens to be the interim Minister of Police, so I will conduct a media awareness campaign that would embarrass the most stalwart MP!

Please keep the likes and follows coming.

Warm regards
Mike

The third time we have spoken to Chris regarding crime at the Dairy, he's a top bloke, and we are grateful for his coverage and excellent reporting.

Two Christchurch business owners and their families should be enjoying the sunny weather today. Instead, they’re in clean-up mode - again, after another attempted break-in at their dairies. At 2.19AM, youths pulled up in a stolen vehicle outside the Racecourse Dairy on Epson Road in Sockburn. The
