We are delighted to share that Tūāpae is our June Wine of the Month!!! 🍾🍇🍷

Vanessa and Luke, driven by a desire for a lifestyle block adventure, became vineyard owners. Vanessa's Waiheke-born children are regulars at the vineyard, and Luke, originally from Northern Ireland, is now considered a local. They acknowledge their iwi, Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki, connecting them to the land and sea.

The 3-hectare vineyard is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Merlot. Embracing the Te Ao Māori concept of ki uta ki tai, they understand that actions on the land impact the sea. A stream originating at Awaawaroa runs through native forest, home to kōkopu, tuna, and kōura. They use only organic inputs since December 2021, aiming for organic certification.

The 8.5-hectare property includes 3.5 hectares of native forest, home to birds like Kākā, Weka, Kererū, and Tui. The Te Ara Hura walking track runs through the property. Archaeological sites indicate extensive historic settlement, with views of significant tribal mountains. The tasting room is open Saturdays from 12 pm to 5 pm by booking only.

To celebrate we are offering a 20% discount on the following wines:

Māwhero Rosé 2021
Kōtui Bordeaux Blend 2021 / 2022
Kōtui Reserve Bordeaux Blend 2022
Marea Reserve Malbec 2022

This discount is available both in-store and online. As always, we will have in-store tastings of these wines every Friday from 4-6 pm!

Happy International Sauvignon Blanc Day

The first Friday of May heralds a celebration of Sauvignon Blanc. Originating in 17th-century France as Sémillon Blanc, it was later renamed Sauvignon Blanc in the mid-1800s. Known for its parentage of Cabernet Sauvignon and aromatic profile including notes of gooseberry and freshly cut grass, it's enjoyed globally, with regions like Marlborough and Sancerre showcasing its versatility.

To celebrate we are offering 10% off all Sauvignon Blanc both in-store and online, for today only!

Raviraj Jadhav Terroir & Jadhavv
Havelock Hills Hawke's Bay Rosé 2021
$36.50

Raviraj Jadhavv, a former microbrewery enthusiast turned winemaker, has crafted a truly remarkable wine with his Rose 2021. After exploring the world of brewing, Raviraj pursued his passion for winemaking, studying Oenology in New Zealand's renowned Hawke’s Bay region. Through internships at Zeffer Cider Co. and Unison Winery, he honed his skills and gained invaluable knowledge. Joining de la terre in 2019, Raviraj found inspiration from the terroir and the dedicated team, including mentors Tony & Kaye Prichard.

His Rose 2021, the only cold macerated Barbera Rosé in the country, draws inspiration from the Rosé des Riceys AOC, which bottles its wines in green glass to preserve their color from external light.

A single-vineyard blend of Barbera, Syrah, Tempranillo, Montepulciano, and Viognier, has garnered acclaim from Michael Cooper Wines. “Hand-picked from mature vines, it has a deep ruby hue, still moderately youthful. Fragrant and mouthfilling, it is a buoyantly fruity wine, aging very gracefully, with strong, cherryish, plummy, gently spicy flavours, a light touch of tannin, and a fully dry, very harmonious finish. A 'serious' style of Rosé, full of personality, it's probably at its peak in late 2023, and well worth discovering.” (Michael Cooper 2020)

May Wine of the Month: Te Motu - Vineyard Restaurant & Cellar Door🍷🍇🌿

⭐️ 20% OFF Te Motu wines ⭐️

“Te Motu” derives from the original Maori name for Waiheke, Te Motu Arai Roa, meaning “Island of Long Shelter.” The story of Te Motu Vineyard began in 1988 when the Dunleavy family acquired 30 acres of vineyard valley, transforming it into a renowned haven for premier wine production. Situated in the heart of Waiheke Island’s Onetangi Valley, the vineyard benefits from a sheltered location, protected by natural features such as a ridge and rocky outcrop. Its soil, comprised of Jurassic-age Waipapa Group formations and a unique microclimate, provides an ideal environment for growing Cabernet and Merlot grape varieties.

Te Motu’s philosophy revolves around achieving balance in all aspects of vineyard and winery practices. Emphasizing minimal intervention, the focus is on using high-quality fruit harvested at optimal ripeness to craft wines that reflect the terroir of Onetangi Valley. Hand-harvested berries from low-yielding vines are carefully processed and aged in barrels sourced from top French coopers.

Te Motu wines embody the unique characteristics of the vineyard site and promise longevity. Visitors can experience the essence of Te Motu at “The Shed,” a restaurant offering a relaxed, modern-rustic ambience amidst the vineyards. The cellar door provides an opportunity to sample aged red wines while enjoying the picturesque surroundings of the Onetangi Valley.
To celebrate Te Motu as our Wine of the Month, we are offering a 20% discount on the following wines:

The Shed Rose 2021
The Strip Cabernet Merlot 2020
Grafter Syrah 2021
Kokoro Merlot Blend 2020
Dunleavy Cabernet Merlot 2005
The Nectar Late Harvest Rosé Cabernet Sauvignon 2023

This discount is available both in-store and online. As always, we will have in-store tastings of these wines every Friday from 4-6 pm!
