P3 at the NZ TQ GP in Nelson 🤩

Heat 1 - G14 to P9
Heat 2 - G3 to P3
Heat 3 - G13 to P6

Early in the night we struggled heavily on a very bumpy juiced up one laned track. In heat 1 we were on the tight side and pulled all the tear offs very early and the visor was fogging up causing me to have next to no vision for the race so was happy to finish with no damage and some points. Heat 2 we freed the car up too much and didn’t have enough drive to hang with the leader , had a good battle for second but stayed in 3rd.
After those 2 heats we were left scratching our heads and felt as if we just couldn’t figure out the Nelson track regardless of the track state!
Fortunately enough the boys kept working on the car for me and we went the right way and had something to work from after heat 3. The car felt a lot better and I was more confident with our pace.

Feature - We started out of grid 9 with all the fast cars ahead of us. We knew our work was cut out for us but 25 laps is a long way. Again Corey and Aaron got the car right where it needed to be by feature time and right from the drop of the green we were picking off cars and having good battles along the way! It was a super fun race and with 4 laps to go we got a yellow and we were sitting in 4th. After a lap under green I starting running the cushion in turns 3 and 4 to try make something happen and it was super quick up there! We got the move done for 3rd and almost had 2nd on the last lap!
Definitely our best run at Nelson which seemed to be our bogey track but couldn’t be prouder of the boys for sticking with me and giving me a hotrod in the feature!

Wow … what a weekend!

Thank you all for the messages and comments over the last 24 hours. The support has been insane 🤩

Over the 5 heat races we worked super hard on our equipment and by feature time Saturday we were really confident that we had a shot at the title. But right as we went to go out the rain came causing it to be postponed to the next day where we just ran the one race final with some hot laps prior. Before the race it felt like a big ask to get the car in the right window for the 25 laps as we didn’t know how the track would develop or what we were in for. Lucky for us we got it close enough to have a run for the title… there were a few moments and opportunities in the race for us where we didn’t quite execute or things didn’t go our way and that was the difference between 1 and 2!! But that’s racing … we can be proud of what we accomplished and carry the 2nz with pride over the next 12 months and have something to chase!

Aaron aswell is a huge asset to our team and is a massive reason we are where we are. So hard working and talented and always has the right mindset for the job and gets me in the right headspace before each race.
These boys deserved the 1 this weekend but we are still damn sure happy with the 2! The hunt for next year begins 😎

🏆 𝐍𝐙 𝐓𝐢𝐭𝐥𝐞 - 𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐓𝐰𝐨 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐩 🏆

Heat 4 - G14 👉 P13
With a slight miscalculation on the set up, Dayna struggled a wee bit. While it wasn’t the result we were after, she was glad to have got another race finish under her belt after night one.

Heat 5 - G8 👉 P9
She had a wicked start but got swamped when another car made a mistake in front of her which dropped her down to 12th. She worked hard and managed to almost make it back to where she started.

B-Main (Evens) - G11 👉 P11
She qualified 38th which put her in the middle of the Evens B-Main. She had some good battles and tried lots of different things, but just didn’t have enough to get any further ahead.

Qualifying 38th out of 52 cars may not have been the result we were after, but with two DNF’s on night one, the team is still happy with the result. Titles are always tough, but this has definitely been the hardest one I’ve competed at so far. Next year we will be back and with much better luck!
