Spirit's of the Week - Glenglassaugh Whisky

For over two decades a hidden gem in Scotland’s rugged north east lay silent. In 2008 Glenglassaugh Distillery was awakened from its slumber and now the iconic Highland coastal spirit has witnessed a reawakening; presenting a new portfolio and design direction. The release of a flagship 12 Year Old Single Malt, which embodies Glenglassaugh’s signature coastal style heralds this turning point.

The overall artistic direction has also evolved, taking inspiration from rippling sand tide at Sandend Bay, with touches of colour inspired by sea glass. Shaped by the influences of land and sea, the reimagined portfolio and design encapsulate the ethos of the lush, vibrant coastal spirit. As with all Glenglassaugh single malts, the new whisky has been gently matured in the distillery’s coastal warehouses overlooking the rolling surf of Sandend Bay.

Since its release in 1995, Asahi Kuronama has become Japan’s favorite dark beer with its rich aroma and subtle sweetness.

It is made from three types of dark roasted malt that each gives a different characteristic flavor according to how it is roasted and toasted.

Ukiyo Japanese Blossom Gin

Perfected through generations, we celebrate the purity of traditional Japanese distilling.

Born in Kagoshima in the shadow of the Sakurajima volcano our Gin is made from a base of traditional Japanese shōchū spirit. When redistilled the high-quality shōchū produces a gentler gin that has a beautifully soft mouthfeel.

In Japan, there’s a fleeting period during spring when the sakura (cherry) blossoms are in full bloom. In a tradition known as ‘Hanami’ the people head out to celebrate the cascading of these blooms and the change of season.

Taylor's Fine Tawny

Taylor’s Fine Tawny is drawn from wines selected for their smoothness and mellow character. These are aged for up to three years in oak casks in Taylor’s cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia. The individual wines are then blended together a few months before bottling for balance and completeness.

Taylor’s Fine Tawny Port is particularly popular in Continental Europe where it is drunk predominantly as an aperitif. For those preferring a lighter style, this versatile port can also be enjoyed after meals.

Don Julio Gonzalez pioneered their short bottle design—making space for long conversations over even longer weekends.

Don Julio Sparkling Paloma:
45ml Don Julio Añejo Tequila
15ml Fresh Lime Juice
45ml Grapefruit Juice
45ml Sparkling Water
Garnish with Dried Blood Orange Wheel

Combine ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well and strain over ice. Top cocktail off with grapefruit juice and sparkling water. Garnish with a dried blood orange slice.

Instead, we extra-matured our unique blend of the world’s finest single malts in first-fill sherry casks. Naked casks we called them, as they'd never held whisky before.

Whisky of the Year - Whisky Advocate
For the team at Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee, filling barrels for its Old No. 7 brand has been a nearly all-consuming task over the decades. But there have been some adventures beyond that core label, and this year we were treated to one of them - Jack Daniel's Bonded.

In selecting the whiskeys for this final blend, the search was on throughout the warehouses for whiskeys with boldness and depth of colour. That search struck gold, as Jack Daniels Bonded emerged to become our 2022 Whisky of the Year.
