Thanks for a fantastic tasting yesterday with the team to look at the slice of Rioja that is .wine. Yesterday the team jumped on google meets for a refresher on these wines, what a treat that was! We look far too serious in these photos 🫠 but trust us, we were excited!!

Bideona - means “the good way” in Basque :)

We tasted the noble grapes of Rioja;
Viura and of course, Tempranillo🍷

Such freshness in these wines, due to the use of Rioja Alevesa (higher altitude sites with concentrated limestone content in the soil) fruit, where Sam looks to make wines that are more “naked” than the typical Rioja wines, wearing less makeup, and encouraging the wines to have higher drinkability, less density, and showcase exciting flavours like black cherry, the finest dark chocolate, and spicy clove, oof 👌🏻

Christmas is 2 months today 😅😀 and we reckon 2023 has been a bloody stressful year for many. Our advice; keep it simple this year.

Spend quality time, get outdoors, create a meal that encompasses wholesome food, & local produce.

Make the day special with a bottle of Champagne or locally made sparkling. Swipe to see our recommendations (1) is pretty spectacular with its crisp fine bubbles.

Down to Earth will bring people together in a vibrant atmosphere, around a modern canteen, thoughtful food and organic wines poured by producers. Held in the middle of OWW, on Thursday 21 September, the tasting event venue is located just off Karangahape Road.

Producer feature :: Château de Roquefort ::

Located in the Côtes de Provence Appellation, the landscape is a formation of high plateaus, where the vineyards are cultivated Biodynamically at an altitude of 390 metres, with the soil composing of rocky clay, and limestone. The vineyards have been certified bio since 2006.

Pictured here is the Gu**le de Loop Rouge, a Grenache, Cab Sav & Cinsault blend. Fresh, generous and earthy.

In the other hand. The Corail, a rosé made from Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault, Carignan, Mourvèdre, Clairette, & Vermentino. Slightly spiced, lemony, tight white fruit and hints of fennel. A beautiful rosé for any occasion.

These are joyful wines, made for people who seriously enjoy drinking wine for pleasure. 😘👌🏻

We love the kick this has, with lashings of Caribbean ginger and spice, you’ll wake up feeling all things nice! 🎋

📸 at a sober event we partook in recently, it was very refreshing to see a gig venue offering an alcohol free environment to enjoy and watch amazing live music, a place to connect with your mates, sans the booze! Nice 👌🏻

Native! 🌿🌿🌿 We wish there were emojis for Manuka, Kawakawa and Horopito! These beautiful natives are part of the Aotearoa story, and was clever enough to put it in a bottle of gin, evoking a sense of “walking through the New Zealand bush”. How good! It’s perfect with a splash of tonic.

Fresh Shipment of just landed!! 🚢 Get in while she’s fresh & available. We’ve noticed Sherry sales are on the rise here in Aotearoa, some of our favourites are
- En Rama Manzanilla; for the salty, raw, textured, hazelnuts and pithy citrus. 🤌🏻
- Oloroso Cream Alameda; a blend of 95% dry oloroso and 5% sweet Pedro Ximénez. Rich figs, toasted nuts and walnut. 👌🏻
- Palo Cortado; the rarest style of Sherry, made from 100% Palomino grapes that have aged in the Bodegas Solera system for over 20 years. Intoxicating aromas of almond paste, dried quince, apple and sea spray. 🌊

Bodega Hidalgo remains family owned, today the eighth gen are at the helm! They rely solely on their own vineyards across 200 hectares, all are organically farmed 🐝🪱🌿🍇
