After previous appointments in Finland (University of Kuopio) and the United States (The George Washington University), I'm pleased to announce that my 'PracAdemic' career - linking 'Practice' with 'Academia'... - will resume as Professor (Visiting) at the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika.
This 3-year appointment will be part of the further development of a pan-African (!) Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Adaptation and Resilience.

I'm looking forward to collaborate with academic colleagues in the Dept. of Environmental Sciences of the School of Ecological and Human Sustainability in the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences - including Leonard Llewellyn, Linda Lunga Sibali, Khomotso Semenya, Monnye Mabelebele and, for the wider UNISA community, Principal and Vice-Chancelor Puleng Lenkabula and Vice Principal Thenjiwe Meyiwa.

I also look forward to working closely with other luminaries such as Ian Widdop, Johnny Stormonth-Darling and the many, many down-to-earth practitioners involved in building all-inclusive, community (and value-based!) resilience throughout (South) Africa.

WHY?
Simple: only when lessons (to be) learned from 'Academia' (What?) and 'Practice' (How?) are combined and shared, can we expect to tackle the ever-present, overarching problems of FRAGMENTATION and LACK-OF-IMPACT.

So, onwards and upward it is...
