The Ripy brothers opened a distillery in 1869 on Wild Turkey Hill, Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. Legend also has it that in 1940 the bourbon that was being made there was called Wild Turkey after a distillery executive shared his bourbon on a turkey hunting trip.

I was really surprised at Belvedere. I was expecting more from a top shelf vodka. It’s a little bitter. It stays a little bitter, then remains bitter after the swallow. It only burns a little, but I expect completely smooth from a vodka that claims to be of this quality (by price, that is).

Belvedere is a great mixer. It mixes perfectly with Passion Fruit juice. I can’t taste the vodka at all. Belvedere, it seems, is made for mixing.

Dalmore 15 Bottling Note
The Dalmore 15 year old was first launched in 2007. Matured in Matusalem, Apostoles and Amoroso Sherry casks, it proffers all those winter spice, orange zest and chocolate notes characteristic of Dalmore.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose: A chocolate orange. Potpourri, perfumed. Fruitcake, Sherry.

Palate: Medium, lovely delivery. Zesty orange, Curaçao, chocolate. Winter spice, stem ginger in syrup. Hints of anise and a little hickory.

Finish: Malty barley and smoky espresso.

Cognac oftentimes goes through a chill filtering process in which the spirit is cooled to somewhere between -10° to 4° Celsius (the median being 0°) in order to remove unneeded residues – a practice common among manufacturers. Not so much with the House of Martell. Ever so resilient in their disruptive ways, it is now introducing its first non-chill filtered cognac in the Martell NCF. For the uninitiated, on a very obvious level, a non-chill filtered cognac would turn hazy when served on the rocks, but for connoisseurs, it also means smoother, longer finish that convey extra flavours and textures – especially so on ice.

the result of Fine Champagne Cognac is a heavier and more complex Cognac what appeals to many enthusiasts.

The Napoleon offers a very specific strong spicy flavor of dried fruit, wood and honey. Since the taste is so powerful, it fits perfectly as a after dinner Cognac.

The design, is somewhat dated when compared with a Cognac like the Courvoisier VSOP Exclusif, but in my eyes its the unique selling point, that old label,the dull green bottle with the ribbon and medal…. Great!
