【ABERFELDY 12Y🥃】
The classic 12-Year-Old Aberfeldy single malt Scotch whisky, distilled in the Highlands. While the label sadly no longer features a red squirrel, it now comes with a rather handsome black and rose-gold colour palate to match the rich, malty, honeyed flavour profile.
Nose: Creamy. Some sherried fruit with a trailing hint of smoke. Prune, custard, and espresso bean.
Palate: Sweet, malty, a gentle peat but nonetheless the mouth feel is very clean. Vanilla, peaches in cream and subtle oak.
Finish: Ginger, malt, nutty nougat and maybe a little grapefruit zest.
【ABERFELDY 16Y🥃】
16-year-old single malt from the fantastic Aberfeldy distillery, unveiled in the latter half of 2015 as part of the Last Great Malts series. This expression is finished in Oloroso Sherry casks, imparting juicy sweet.
Nose: Raisins and cinnamon at first, before moving onto butterscotch, caramel and apple slice. A touch of floral malt, too.
Palate: Well rounded and mellow, but not lazy at all. More apple at first, soon joined by clementine segments and honey on toast. A spark of ginger.
Finish: Waxy peels and oak. Ness to the whisky.
【ABERFELDY 21Y🥃】
Though the Aberfeldy Distillery has been producing whisky since 1898, the 21 Year bottling has only been around since 2005. Most of what is distilled here is used to produce Dewar's Blended Whiskies. In fact, other than the 12 year old, the 21 year is the only other distillery bottling on offer.
Nose: Honey, fruity. Thick malt, enlivened by a fresh, zesty quality.
Palate: Smooth, vanilla, undulating, refined smoke.
Finish: Peters out gently, perhaps some ripe white peach notes and a good wave of honey.
