Duke of Westside

This cocktail is a riff on a twist, but a classic in its own right. It starts with substituting vodka for rum in a classic mojito recipe. That change requires another -- swapping out fresh lime juice in favor of fresh lemon, as vodka isn't strong enough to stand up to the harsher lime.

Sweetness and balance is provided by a rich simple syrup made with lemon juice instead of water... but, if you don't want to make the syrup, substitute an equal amount of whatever jam or fruit preserves you have on hand.

Garnished with a mint, and served straight up in an cold coupe glass, the final recipe is bright, light, and refreshing.

Romeo y Julieta Wide Churchill

Named after William Shakespeare’s tragic lovers, the origins of R&J as a cigar brand date back to 1875.

The brand rose to international fame during the early years of the 20th century under the direction of Don “Pepin” Fernandez, who was amongst the first to recognize the attraction of the cigar band.

During his heyday, no less than 20,000 different bands were used in production.

Spicy, creamy and earthy favours make for an aromatic but light taste. A leathery note is maintained throughout the cigar with a peppery twang coming through towards the end.

This cigar is perfect for novice smokers, yet it’s without a doubt still a complex, innovative masterpiece.
