Southern elephant seals (Mirounga leonina) are the largest living seal species. Elephant seals at Marion Island have been fitted with satellite relay data loggers since 1999 to present. Currently more than 150 individuals have been tracked giving insights to their movement patterns at sea, and variations in behaviour as a possible response to foraging. This awesome animation shows the movement patterns of 15 of our southern elephant seals around Marion Island! Frigid Isles Brewing is a new and exciting initiative that has recently been launched in support of this conservation programme, every beer bought will support our research in the sub-Antarctic! Please follow us on instagram at frigidislesbrewing and follow our research on Facebook Marion Island Marine Mammal Programme. Thanks to M.A.P Scientific Services for the animation! Lauching our first beer, the KILLER whALE at the end of March!
