MRF Tyres What started as a toy balloon manufacturing unit out of a shed in 1946 is India's largest tyre manufacturer today.

To put it in other words, where there's a road, there's an MRF tyre. Founded by K.M Mammen Mapillai, MRF has crossed many memorable milestones. Whether it was setting up the MRF Pace Foundation in 1988 or the birth of our Aeromuscle Tyres for Indian Air Force Sukhoi 30 jets, we've always believed in innovation.

1946 Commences operation with manufacture of Balloons
1951 Started production of Tread Rubber
1955 Becomes largest manufacturer of Tread Rubber
1961 MRF becomes Public Limited
1962 Main plant commissioned in Chennai (TVT) for manufacture of tyres
1978 Radial Tyres for car introduced
1980 Madras Rubber Factory becomes “MRF”
1984 Introduction of “MRF PRETREADS”
1987 MRF becomes India’s No.1 tyre manufacturer
1997 MRF launched its first ever F3 car
1999 Survey conducted by Business World – MRF was voted as India’s Best Respected Company and Ranked No.1 in “Ethical Conduct”. MRF Tyres & Services concept introduced
2002 MRF entered international rallying
2014 MRF partners with BCCI to train bowlers at the MRF Pace Foundation under Glenn McGrath
2001 to 2014 MRF won the J.D. Power award for “Customer satisfaction” 11 times
