‘Yé-yé’ was their name. Voices and faces of the new French 60s music, they were cool girls and boys next door at home — and epitomes of continental chic for listeners from abroad. From Sheila, whose song ‘L’école est finie’ (‘School is over’) became the first yé-yé hit, to Brigitte Bardot, from Jacques Dutronc to Johnny Hallyday, they were as recognizable — and distinctly French — as La Nouvelle Vague cinema.

We’ll listen to them again this Thursday, as it’s the time to remember. Or as Françoise Hardy would sing, ‘Le Temps Des Souvenirs.’

… In the book «Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas,» journalist «Shark» Hunter Thompson goes to do a report, trying to understand where the great American dream of the late ‘60s disappeared to.

We will try to look at fragments of this dream in Israel. How did the great s*xual revolution take place in Israel, and how did it disappear? The late ‘60s to early ‘70s – what was this era in our society like, who were its gurus, and what were the peculiarities of our «revolutions» in a state that had won the Six-Day War?

Sip&Sketch, an exhibition by will open on Thursday, July 18th, at 19:00 at Open Wine. On display, Past’s most recent illustrations, painted with wine, coffee and watercolours.

Tanya(aka Past) drawing and painting from the moment she can remember herself and it always was a passion of hers. Capturing the moments in different places of Tel Aviv became a meditation to her. She studied architecture in the past and it gives nice touch of architectural sketches to her drawings Illustrations of Past made from the heart and with love to Tel Aviv so you cannot be not affected by feeling of familiarity, or recognition like ‘oh! In our next lecture, we’ll delve into the venues where the primary exhibition of contemporary art unfolds. We’ll explore the architectural nuances of the national pavilions, the reconfiguration of the central exhibition space, and the historical context behind the Arsenal and the Gardens of the Giardini.

• who, when, and why invented the Venice Biennale?
• why did the Biennale refuse to sell artworks, and how was this decision connected to political protests?
• why was the Venice Biennale considered outdated in the middle of the last century, and how did it gain the status of the most contemporary art exhibition?
• what exhibitions and works of art have entered history as the most scandalous?
• how is the exhibition organized today, and what should one go see first?

VENICE BIENNALE LECTURE SERIES

On April 20th the 60th Venice Art Biennale, an iconic exhibition of contemporary art, opens. It originated as a local fair of painting and sculpture, commemorating the anniversary of the royal couple’s marriage. The exhibition initially occupied only a temporary pavilion, showcasing works exclusively by Italian artists.

Today, the Biennale brings together participants from different countries and aspires to the status of the most fashionable and influential cultural event. Every two years, from spring to late autumn, it takes over half of Venice and becomes the world main cultural highlight of the season.
