Our Story

The Wicklow Wine Company was started in November 2000 by Michael Anderson and Ben Mason, who had previously worked together at Searson’s in Monkstown, Dublin. Both shared a passion for wine – Michael for the wines of south-west France, and Ben for Germany. Having achieved the Wine and Spirit Education Trust's Diploma, both Michael and Ben worked hard to establish a fine retail business and also to import and wholesale interesting wines direct from the vineyards. Over the years, the portfolio has expanded to include top-quality wines from France, Italy, Austria, Spain, Portugal and other countries. See our great wine list for a better idea of the wines wwe import and sell. The business has had a number of locations in Wicklow, and a number of different helpers – currently Tamas Schaffer is Michael’s right hand and comrade in the love of wine. The shop sells more than just wine – super coffee is sold alongside a fine range of cheeses, breads, olives and other artisan products.
