OUR BIG, BIG RAFFLE

Yes, it is another huge Iverk Show raffle again this year. 50 prizes to be won. How would you like to spend two nights, Bed and Breakfast, in the
5* Westbury Hotel in Dublin??? That is our first prize this year. The second prize is, one night B& B in the 5* Merrion Hotel, also in Dublin.

Tickets are available right now from any member of the committee. We would like to thank everyone who has donated a prize. Tickets are €2
each or great value at ‘3 for a fiver’. As they say, if you are not in, you can’t win.

The draw will take place at 4.30pm in the show grounds on Saturday the
24th August.

From today, Suir Roofing will be on a Cul-de-Sac. Our nearest access to and from the N24 is now closed permanently. There is a new road from the water tower in Piltown to the Ink Bottle beside us. It's not yet on Google Maps.

In a few weeks when the new Piltown flyover is open, traffic from the Waterford direction will access us via the flyover.

Show Jumping at Iverk Show.
As far as we can establish Show Jumping at Iverk Show began in 1894. It was a totally different competition to what we know today. The competition was for four years old and upwards, carrying not less than 12 stone jumping a ditch and bank, stone wall, double bank, and a hurdle. Mr Martin J Murphy, TC, Waterford, generously presented a silver cup, value £10 10s, for the best performer. Mr Murphy was involved in the development and running of Tramore racecourse.
The competition involved jumping three or four rounds over the same fences until the judges identified in their opinion the best performer.
We do not have the winners of the 1894 competition but the 1895 winners were; - first prize, Mr James Phelan’s Alice; Mr G F Malcomson’s Peg, second, and Mr Arnold Power’s Silvertail, third. #1894 #1826

All being well in 2026 the Iverk Show will be celebrating its 200th anniversary. Yes the first show was held in 1826 under the auspices of the Iverk Farming Society.
The present committee intend to celebrate the occassion. The good news is you can help us. Have you any old photographs, prize lists or catalogues, any memorabilia, or anything else connected with the show we would like to hear from you. Have you an interesting tale to tell?
There are not too many organizations that can go back that far especially from a very rural village.
