New In
A truly elegant Pouilly-Fumé with a sunny character.
Notes of peach and apricot on the nose, very smooth on the palate. Flavours of grapefruit and lemon, and a fresh finish with great length.
Best served as an aperitif, and goes perfectly with fish and shellfish.

Xarel-lo
Charr ell what?
Xarel-lo is a quite thick skinned grape variety from Catalunya. It’s most commonly associated with Cava, where it’s part of the traditional three-grape blend along with Parellada and Macabeo (Viura).
It’s a pretty adaptable variety, tolerating a wide range of soil types and climatic conditions.
It complements the richness of the Macabeo with high acidity.
And Cava is Spain’s answer to Champange. More affordable, so you can feel luxurious without braking the bank.

Did you know that among many exclusive wines, The Wine Buff also hold our own special selection range from vinyards close to our store in Saint-Émilion in France?

Among our Wine Buff selection range is the The Cuvee “Paddy Jack”. This is a blend made in honour of Founder Paddy O Flynn’s brother Jack, who was a fond beer drinker, but never liked the vino. Paddy introduced him to the wine of Jean Francois Meynard and he loved the “La Bouree” , his one and only favourite wine. This blend is made by Paddy and Jean Francois in Jack’s honour, hence the name “Paddy Jack”, which also is the name of Paddy’s son.

It’s great quality-price and is already very popular with our customers.

Made by the former New Zealand Winemaker of the Year (2012), Tony Southgate, this Sauvignon Blanc, from Nelson, is the perfect summer wine.
Dry, with gooseberry, blackcurrant leaf and subtle juicy tropical flavours, herbaceous as well with hints of lime. This leaves a clean fresh palate and nicely balanced mouthfeel.
Great with salads, vegetarian burger, fish, or just sitting out in the garden contemplating life.
Pick it up from your nearest Wine Buff.

Three generations working in the vineyard, and making the most food friendly wines.
Fruity and floral nose, citrus freshness with green notes of Sauvignon. Is refreshing and balanced. Feels like a little brother of Sancerre. Great with your Sunday roast, fish, salad, or most vegetarian dishes.

Winemakers in Chablis are taking precautions in the vineyards and are lighting up the torches.
The funny weather in the first four months of the year is causing later budding, so, hopefully, even if there’s frost, there won’t be as much damage as in 2022.

Saturday Treat
A blend of 75% cabernet sauvignon and 25% merlot aged in barriques and unfiltered, today's wine is full-bodied, complex, and quintessential Bordeaux. Aromas of blackcurrants and herbs lead to a palate of cassis, blackberries, and black raspberries, with accents of cedar, brambly earth, and vanilla. Firm yet plaint tannins give the wine structure yet soften with a brief decanting, making the wine drinkable now as well as ageworthy.
Excellent quality for the price.

Wine of the Week
Rhein Riesling is one of the most noble grape varieties in the world, and Grand Superior is awarded only to those of best quality in Eger.
Vibrant and elegant, fruity, with crunchy green apples and white peach, finishing with great acidity.
Long lasting freshness and good aging potential, but it never lasts that long.

Sauvignon Blanc doesn’t get better than Sancerre.
Clear, brilliant pale gold hue. Powerful nose with aromatic qualities. Great representative of the limestone-clay soil found in Bué.
Good acidity and roundness, long finish on the palate.
Excellent aperitif, wonderful with fish, and best with the famous local Crotin de Chavignol.

Thys Louw is the sixth generation making wine in Diemersdal, one of the best-known wineries in South Africa.
The Shiraz is great with game, especially venison, strong cheeses, or steak, but it’s smooth enough to be enjoyable on its own, relaxing watching TV.
It has a complex nose with overtones of black and white pepper, pomegranate, cigar box, cloves, and spice.
On the palate, vibrant red fruits, blackcurrant, and dark chocolate flavours, underpinned by well-integrated oak with a long spicy finish. It shows a good structure and will develop further for years to come.

Spring has sprung now, and with more sunshine comes more rosé.
Sainte BĂ©atrice is our best-selling pink elixir, a firm favourite since its arrival last year.
Beautiful pale pink, shiny, with salmon reflections. Nose of dried fruits, almonds, raisins, and pistachio mixed with mineral notes of chalk. The palate is full-bodied, balanced, and delicious ending with the flavour of pleasant kirsch.

Beaujolais-Emeringes is ruby red with red garnet tints, and delicate aromas of strawberry and blackberry with a touch of cinnamon and spice. Perfect choice for the long weekend. Happy Easter!

Are you planning your Easter menu? We have a remarkable wine to pair your lamb with.
In 1992, Phillipe Courrian acquired some land near the castle Saint Laurent Bermon in CorbiĂšres. Inspired by the beautiful waterfalls on the property, the family renamed the vineyard Cascadais. Phillipe embarked on a new viticultural journey, and he created one of the most exceptional wines from CorbiĂšres.
La Tannat de Philppe Courrain 2015 is an organic wine made exclusively from the Tannat grape. It’s crafted only in good years in limited quantities.
It’s dense black and full-bodied with very soft tannins. It’s fruity and subtle on the palate, with notes of blackcurrant and blackberry.
If you appreciate bold red wines with a lot of character, the Tannat is worth experiencing.

The Wine Buff Nenagh

The Wine Buff Nenagh began life in 2004 on Kickham street and relocated to a bigger, brighter new premises on Cecil Walk in October 2010. The new shop is located a stone’s throw off Kenyon Street adjacent to the town centre car park. There is ample parking right outside the front door of the shop. The shop is open 5 days per week.

Owner and manager, Alexis Kelly and her husband Davy, are great fans of the old vino and have travelled throughout Europe on educational forays into the wine growing regions; they even have been known to partake in the odd glass or two along the way. If you're looking for a gift, something special or a bottle to enjoy then Alexis will be delighted for you to call in, for some advice and a chat, you'll be glad you did. So see you soon in Cecil Walk.
