Syrah doesn’t get better than Northern Rhône.

Vincent Paris is a quiet, gets on with his work type of individual, however, his wines are quickly becoming iconic in the region and around the world.

He started making wines back in the 90s, and his first two vintages were made with his uncle, the legendary winemaker Robert Michel, then he decided to strike out on his own.

The Granit 30 is made from vines on a 30% gradient, hence the name.

It’s rich, full of juicy blackberry fruit, black cherry and minerality with a beautifully long and appetising finish.

Whilst it's quite a restrained style of Cornas, that peppery spice makes it the perfect seasoning for any big red meat dish or slow-cooked stew.

Our most popular Pinto Grigio ever.

Fresh and lively, with a clean, white fruit bouquet. Dry, smooth on the palate and pleasant acidity. A wine that’s enjoyable for everyone.

The vineyard is situated in the more southern part of the Friuli region, between the inlets of the River Stella in the village of Borgo Titiano near Precenicco. Vittorino Baccichetto founded the business with his wife Anita, they have passed down to their sons Paolo and Alessandro the sense of duty and respect for their traditions: experience built up over time, hard work and healthy love for the land.

During a shot stay in Lignano, Ernest Hemingway, accompanied by his friend and driver Adamo De Simon, stopped in the local village of Borgo Titiano, where he became inebriated by the good wine and while he was contemplating he decided to leave this declaration to the Baccichetto family: "Wine is one of the most civilised things in the world and one of the most natural things of the world that has been brought to the greatest perfection."

Following the huge success of the Setzer Ausstich Gruner Veltliner, here’s the lighter version, Fliegen Gewicht.
Low alcohol ( 11% ), lots of freshness and pleasant fruit – a real ‘flyweight’.
This wine will liven up your aperitif, a cosy evening with friends or your light meal.

We are very proud to store so many internationally appreciated wines here in our Wine Buff shops in Ireland.
Diemersdal’s Journal Cabernet Sauvignon stole the show on the International Wine Challenge 2024, scoring a stellar 95 points:
“Perfumed nose, cherry to***co, and blackcurrant allure. Vibrant black fruit meets cedar complexity, with textural tannins and delightful fruit intensity.
A nuanced, elegant finish that’s utterly charming!”

Produced only in vintages of exceptional quality, Ontañon Reserva displays notes of deep, full fruit flavours but with ample acidity, minerality and earth notes drawn from the land where the fruit is grown. It has backbone, fine-laced acidity, structure and natural grape tannins that that will ensure its integrity for years to come.

Drink our Reserva with lamb, roast pork, game, mushroom risotto and meat-based pasta dishes.

Just in time for your BBQ.
In ancient mythology, the goddess Ocaso, protector of the fruits of nature, would sing to the sun as it sets behind the mountains as an offering of thanks for helping transforming her nectar into the most exquisite of all.

Ocaso Cabernet Sauvignon is a rich, opulent Mendoza, made by the excellent winemaker Patricio Gouguenheim.

Fresh and clean with red and black berry aromas, even a subtle hint of cherry. Expresive with medium body and silky smooth finish. Pair well with hearty dishes, roast meat, BBQ and good friends.

It’s a true testament of Paddy and Pilar, who created a little oasis, where you don’t even notice time passing.

Not bad for an Irish business in the centre of one of the most important wine destinations of the world.

Thank you for the wonderful support both here in Ireland and abroad throughout our 24 years in business.

The perfect midweek treat.
Deep ruby colour, aromas of black fruit and ripe red berries, a splash of chocolate and a hint of dried to***co. Dry and medium bodied, with balanced acidity and soft tannins, flavours of blackcurrant, liquorice and chocolate. What not to love.
Negromaro is very adaptable, and yet, nearly all the plantings are in Puglia, the 'Heel of Italy'. It produces wines very deep in colour, with enough sweet berry flavour to make for laidback, easy drinking.
You can even chill it for a more Mediterranean feel.

A relatively novel, environmentally friendly, and very cool way to deter birds from destroying all the work done in the vineyard.
Birds not only reduce crop volume, but can also cause infections that will damage the quality of the wine.
They perceive the constantly moving green laser beam as a physical object, so they avoid it. This way they are gently nudged away, not harming them but saving most of the crop, giving farmers a better piece of mind.

Terras de Lantaño Albariño is the big brother of Ruta 49.

The grapes used are from the oldest vineyards in the winery, harvested manually with careful selection in the field.

Golden yellow in colour, fruity aroma resting on a floral background, and a fresh, complex flavour that leaves a long fruity and pleasant aftertaste.

Ideal with fish, shellfish, chicken, soft cheese or as an aperitif.

The Mâconnais is best known as a source of good value white wines.

Domaine La Feuillarde is one of the finest estates in St-Veran created in 1934 and now extends over 12 hectares on southwest-facing slopes. The Thomas family has been estate-bottling the majority of their production since 1987, specialising in St-Veran.

Lucien Thomas, the owner and winemaker, produces his St-Veran from old-vines planted around a remarkable, single-block, south south-west facing amphitheatre vineyard.
The vineyards are ploughed, the vines severely pruned, and yields carefully monitored by cluster-thinning. Thomas seeks the fullest expression of fruit and terroir.

His wines have been regularly acclaimed by the critics for their focus, purity and intensity. As early as 2004, The Wine Spectator did a full page feature profile on Lucien Thomas, applauding his exceptional technique and the richness and purity of his wines.

It is bright with a light gold hue. Aromas of peach and lemon follow in the crisp palate. Well balanced, with a mixture of white fruit and a hint of flint.

A truly elegant Pouilly-Fumé with a sunny character.
Notes of peach and apricot on the nose, very smooth on the palate. Flavours of grapefruit and lemon, and a fresh finish with great length.
Best served as an aperitif, and goes perfectly with fish and shellfish.

Xarel-lo
Charr ell what?
Xarel-lo is a quite thick skinned grape variety from Catalunya. It’s most commonly associated with Cava, where it’s part of the traditional three-grape blend along with Parellada and Macabeo (Viura).
It’s a pretty adaptable variety, tolerating a wide range of soil types and climatic conditions.
It complements the richness of the Macabeo with high acidity.
And Cava is Spain’s answer to Champange. More affordable, so you can feel luxurious without braking the bank.

Did you know that among many exclusive wines, The Wine Buff also hold our own special selection range from vinyards close to our store in Saint-Émilion in France?

Among our Wine Buff selection range is the The Cuvee “Paddy Jack”. This is a blend made in honour of Founder Paddy O Flynn’s brother Jack, who was a fond beer drinker, but never liked the vino. Paddy introduced him to the wine of Jean Francois Meynard and he loved the “La Bouree” , his one and only favourite wine. This blend is made by Paddy and Jean Francois in Jack’s honour, hence the name “Paddy Jack”, which also is the name of Paddy’s son.

It’s great quality-price and is already very popular with our customers.

Made by the former New Zealand Winemaker of the Year (2012), Tony Southgate, this Sauvignon Blanc, from Nelson, is the perfect summer wine.
Dry, with gooseberry, blackcurrant leaf and subtle juicy tropical flavours, herbaceous as well with hints of lime. This leaves a clean fresh palate and nicely balanced mouthfeel.
Great with salads, vegetarian burger, fish, or just sitting out in the garden contemplating life.

Three generations working in the vineyard, and making the most food friendly wines.
Fruity and floral nose, citrus freshness with green notes of Sauvignon. Is refreshing and balanced. Feels like a little brother of Sancerre. Great with your Sunday roast, fish, salad, or most vegetarian dishes.

Winemakers in Chablis are taking precautions in the vineyards and are lighting up the torches.
The funny weather in the first four months of the year is causing later budding, so, hopefully, even if there’s frost, there won’t be as much damage as in 2022.

The Wine Buff Limerick

The Limerick shop was the first Wine Buff shop opened in December 2000. It is located in a beautiful Georgian building on the corner of Mallow Street and Perry Square.

Mike O’Mara, owner, manager and a former ho**er with Old Crescent Rugby Club, took ownership of the Mallow Street shop in November 2004. Mike has an immense personality and a repertoire of rugby stories and jokes guaranteed to entertain. Mike has been on many fact-finding missions to our growers over in France and has a particular fondness for Bordeaux wines.
