New wines from Burgundy just in. Their value and quality are 🙌 Domaine Henri Germain et Fils are located in Meursault and was established in 1973. The estate expanded when Henri married Paulette Pillot, who inherited vineyards in Chassagne-Montrachet. Their son, Jean-François, later took over and further grew the domaine with a premier cru plot in Meursault-Poruzot after marrying Sophie Jobard.

Jean-François now oversees 7 hectares of vineyards across Meursault, Chassagne-Montrachet, and Beaune, joined by his daughter Lucie in 2018. They craft wines with organic practices, hand-harvesting, and low yields. The wines ferment slowly in a cold cellar, aging on the lees for two winters with up to 30% new oak. This careful process yields refined whites with vibrant fruit and silken reds that reflect the vintage and terroir.

Some delicious Champagne just in and crafted by the talented Charles Dufour. The Champagne Francoise Martinot “Bistrotage” 2019 is from a collection of grapes sourced from his mother Francoise, under the label Domaine Francoise Martinot. - A blanc de noir comprised of 100% Pinot Noir with extended ageing on the lees. Then the “Bulles de Comptoir” #12 - Pinot Noir/Chardonnay/Pinot Blanc (60:30:10) 2021 base with 20% from a 2010-2020 perpetual reserve. Finally & V limited is the “Ballad of the Villages” 2004 made from Pinot Noir & Pinot Blanc – 17 years on lees – A wine Charles made with his father.

A journey through Germany, Austria and the Czechia with Anke Hartmann

Join us on what should be a fascinating journey through Germany, Austria and the Czechia hosted by Anke Hartmann.

Anke caught the wine bug during her chef’s training, has her WSET diploma, is a certified Sommelier by the Court of Master Sommeliers and in 2023 was awarded the prestigious title of Irelands Best Sommelier.

Anke has many years’ experience in the wine trade having worked in some of the best restaurants in Ireland and abroad and in 2019 she opened the brilliant Lamplight Wine Bar in Clifden, Connemara.

We’ll taste several wines from across these three countries, made by young, dynamic winemakers whose wines are truly exciting. Wines from Claus Preisinger, Zantho, Milan Nestarec and Immich-Batterieberg to name but a few.

Chef Dan will prepare a selection of regional dishes to accompany the wines on the evening.

Delighted to share the news that our Wine Bar was listed in the “100 Best Restaurants” composed by the fabulous Sally and John McKenna. Sally and John have been compiling this annual guide to Ireland’s best restaurants since 1992. I’m very proud of the team here at GMW, but it is especially great that Dan Smith, our chef is getting this wonderful acknowledgment. Huge Congratulations to all who featured also 🥂

We welcome the 2022’s from Skyassen. An epic line up filled with magic liquid. Brought to you by the talented Joachim and Olivia Skyassen (a Norwegian and San Franciscan), who’ve been impressing us no end with each vintage. 2022 is particularly whopper. They are currently offering negociant, their focus is razor sharp, sourcing top grapes from small plots and from organic growers, enabling them to bottle wine of place.

Wine tasting & dinner - Wednesday 13th September 2023 7pm – 9.30pm

The Wines of The Rhone Valley & Ardeche presented by Pascal Rossignol

The Rhône Valley is a key wine-producing region in the southeast of France. It follows the north–south course of the Rhône river for almost 240km (150 miles)

Often divided between its northern and southern climes, the Rhone Valley is associated with both the purity of Syrah in the cooler northern appellations of Côte Rôtie and Hermitage. In warmer, more southerly, latitudes Syrah is a blending component (often with Grenache and Mourvèdre) in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and the Côtes du Rhône. The Ardèche sits on the western banks of the Rhône river and covers an important part of the northern Rhône vineyards while also bridging into the western side of the southern Rhône.

Pascal will guide us though a broad range of wines with many star names and smaller producers amongst the line up.

On the evening we’ll taste several wines served with a menu prepared by our Chef Dan to complement the wines

Small allocation just in from Rene Jean Dard and François Ribo, revered in the natural wine scene, have a cult following .

Their 7.5 vineyard holding sprawls across seven villages with unique terroirs near Mercurol. Employing organic viticulture, they utilize goblet and tie-up pruning techniques tailored to the terrain.

Their red wines share a pure fruit essence. Crozes, from red clay soils with gravel and alluvial stones, captivates with saltiness, violets, olives, dill, blackberry, and leather.
