Penderyn Madeira Cask 🥃
Unique for so many reasons. This is the core expression from Penderyn and has been finished in Madeira barrels after an initial maturation period in ex-Bourbon casks. Penderyn uses an unsual Faraday still, which was designed by a decendent of the illustrious Michael Faraday. This type of still combines a pot still with column head with a second rectifying column. For those who know their pots and columns it is a little like a Lomond still combined with a single Coffey still.

Celtic Cask 52 is not to be missed! A triple distilled single malt from the island of Ireland that was initially matured in ex-Bourbon casks before filling a 500 litre ex-Amontillado solera cask from Bodegas Emilio Hidalgo in August 2013. This ancient sherry cask has given the whiskey, fabulous amontillado notes but the danger with older casks is they can be more generous to the angels. This particular cask gave the angels a generous 40% (😲) of the whiskey in the last eleven years meaning we only got 397 bottles instead of the expected 500+.

Just like the ruby is considered 'the gem of gems' this whiskey lives up to that name and standard. This exceptional single pot is an accumulation of four decades of experience from the Master Distillers who have guided the distillery since 1984. This 40th Anniversary Ruby Edition is a single pot still expertly distilled, produced, and matured to commemorate four decades of excellence. At first, succulent fruits are met with pot still spices, imparting notes of freshly grated ginger and clove oil. The oak's soft tannins combine with a nutty character.
