With great sadness I am writing today to confirm that after 107 years, Deveney’s Rathmines is closed. What a journey we’ve had over the past century, starting life as a horse feed and supplies store when Rathmines was a staging post outside the main city of Dublin up to today where we have been battling the current as an independent off licence. Along the way we have met wonderful people, made great friendships, seen loved ones come and go and enjoyed every second of it. I am truly devastated that it has come to this as I will miss you all and am heartbroken that we have had to bend to socio-economic realities when I truly believe that local businesses provide the fabric and glue in our fragile society, something we need now as much as ever.
I want to thank you one and all, for supporting us over the years and creating so many great memories for me and my family, it really was a blast. And now some time to focus on my family and time to think about the future which is filled with the optimism of ‘what next?’ We only get one spin so time to look forward and embrace the future.
