It's vital that all customers and residents from Daingean and surrounding areas have a look at this proposal and consider the many implications that it will have on the future of our shop, post office and all our daily lives as we travel through the town Also please consider the hardships that will be caused to local residents and users of the Playground, Library, Chemist and other businesses Seerys Bar and the Gaelic Bar by the proposed removal of so much of the available parking . Changes are also proposed for parking at the cemetery and G.A.A .grounds.
The proposed one way system on Molesworth Bridge will cause even more congestion and delays than are being experienced currently at peak times. This will effect everyone who passes through Daingean.
We urge you to give everything due consideration and be sure to put in a submission however you see fit as it is vitally important for the future of our village that every voice is heard and the correct decision is made.
Please know that we have been requesting Offaly County Council to implement traffic calming on the approach to the junction at the shop and play ground for years now. . We firmly believe that there are simpler more practical solutions to calm traffic, which would allow us to remain serving our customers while keeping our community and visitors safe rather than these proposed measures that decimate the quality of life for everyone.
We urge you to lobby your local Councillors as while they are not the ones who created the plans , they are the ones who will have the final vote on them which will reflect and be influenced by what they hear from you their constituents the people who voted them in.
Hard copies of these plans will be available for viewing in the Shop, Post Office, Library and all suitable public areas over the next few days .
