Cecilia’s accolades speak for themselves - she was named the 2019 Communicator of the Year at the prestigious Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Competition. She has also published her first book “Sip Around the World” in 2023 , further demonstrating her enthusiasm and expertise in the industry.

Beyond her media presence, Cecilia is a certified Whisky Ambassador and Champagne Officier. She chairs The Drinks Business Global Masters Asia and leads high-profile wine and spirits judging panels. She is also an official judge for the Hong Kong Wine Judges Association.

We are delighted to announce that Devender Kumar, the Beverage Manager of Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong, will be an esteemed judge for The Hachi Shochu Cocktail Competition 2024.

Devender is known globally for his significant contributions to India’s cocktail revolution, including being named India’s World Class Bartender of the Year in 2012 and winning the Bacardi Martini Grand Prix India Flair champion title in 2009. Having started his bartending career in 2006 in India, Devender has worked at renowned Mumbai restaurant Ellipsis, the bar at the illustrious Taj Hotel in Mumbai and then in 2013, joined the Michelin-starred 8 1⁄2 Otto e Mezzo Bombana as its head mixologist.

Since joining -hkg at the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong in 2021, Devender has been championing Japanese Shochu & Awamori and has established a very successful bar programme focused on cocktails based on this hidden spirit from Japan which has also earned his bar the 10th rank in Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2024.🏅🍸

We are honored to have Devender as part of our judging panel. His deep understanding of Shochu, mastery in creating innovative, flavor-forward cocktails combined with his affable personality and keenness to help young rising bartenders will undoubtedly help participants enhance their bartending skills and creativity.

Introducing the founder of HACHI Shochu, Yoshie Kakimoto, @**yoshi8x_x** as our esteemed judge for the .

Yoshie san was born in Kyoto, Japan and is a Shochu Meister and Kikisakeshi. Growing up immersed in the world of Shochu, her family is one of the craft producers in Kagoshima. Her deep roots and lifelong exposure to this traditional Japanese spirit have made her an authority on the subject.

In addition to her family’s Shochu legacy, Yoshie san is the Founder and Director of an Experiences and Travel business. She has been organizing distillery tours and tastings located across the globe. Hong Kong Whisky Festival 2024 sparked an exploration on innovative distilleries on the global whisky map. One such pioneer is Distillery from New Zealand.
