Old Pulteney 15+18 years & Ancnoc 12 years / Anconc PeatHeart
From the Scottish Uplands, the heart of the peatlands where the fuel for this whiskey originates comes the An Cnoc Peatheart Single Malt Whiskey. The colour of the whiskey is light resembling white wine. The nose has tones of warm smoke, orange, lemon, apple, pear, cereals, honey, peach with occasional hints of grass. On the palatte, the whiskey is full and oily with a rich sweet and peaty arrival. Definitely hints of white fruit, pears, honey, cereal and some wood.
Ancnoc 12 year exhibits a gentle, non-sherried style of whiskey. The nose is aromatic, with notes of honeysuckle, fresh flowers, cereal and barley. The palette has a good sweetness to it paired with winter spices, mocha, toasted granary bread and herbal hints. There is a medium length finish and balance between the oak and barley.
Old Pulteney is a generally well balanced whiskey. The nose contains a lot of malt resembling loaves of bread with a bit of orange marmalade. There is a gentle spicing with hints of cinnamon. The taste is creamy and oils with bits of ginger biscuits, nutmeg and chocolate. There are some residual notes of fruits like peaches and mangos that is deepend with the charred sherry oak cask.
