Weโ€™re focussing today on the incredible wines from ๐‚๐ก๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐จ๐ฉ๐ก๐ž ๐๐š๐ซ๐จ๐ง in Walla Walla Washington โ€“ ๐‚๐š๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ž, ๐‡๐จ๐ซ๐ฌ๐ž๐ฉ๐จ๐ฐ๐ž๐ซ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ข๐œ ๐…๐ซ๐จ๐ . I recently made the long drive from Portland along the stunning Columbia River Gorge to the fruit farm-covered valley of ๐–๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ๐š ๐–๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ๐š in Southeastern Washington๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

The first thing you notice when you arrive at the impressive vineyard are the puddle stones, clearly reminiscent of Chateauneuf du Pape.ย  For this reason, Christophe decided to focus on Rhone varietals.ย  With a Continental climate of dry, warm days and cool nights, the stars aligned in his unique patch of dirt to make what some consider the best ๐’๐ฒ๐ซ๐š๐ก and ๐†๐ซ๐ž๐ง๐š๐œ๐ก๐ž outside of France๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท โ€จย โ€จChristophe and his team are pioneers in biodynamic farming in the region and use their own horses to work the land โ€“ hence the Horsepower vineyards.ย  According to Christophe, it is probably the only vineyard in the US using horses full-time๐Ÿด

Having seen Christophe and his team in person and understanding what goes into the wines, I have even more enthusiasm for them.ย  If you like the wines of Rhone, whether its Syrah or Grenache, you must try these and start adding them to your collection.ย I am not alone in this view โ€“ just look at the top criticsโ€˜ ratings๐ŸŽ–๏ธ

Our intimate Clemens Busch wine dinner was a flavor explosion pairing with aromatic Sichuan cuisine.
