The GlenAllachie Single Cask series 2009
Oloroso Puncheon Cask #800206
This single cask was distilled in 2009 and bottled 2022. 12 Years Old.

Appearance: deep amber mahogany brown color, super long legs

Nose: quite dry, very alcohol forward and a bit hot, lots of spices going on, fresh cracked black pepper, nutmeg, cloves with dark chocolate notes, sweet toffee

Taste: oily and viscous, full blast of sherry, with notes of dried fruits being more apparent... dates and raisins. Marzipan, layers of dark chocolate and espresso, with brown/demerara sugar, and hints of to***co leaf in the background.

Finish: longggg finish, Christmas cake and treacle toffee, loaded with baking spices. Flavors go on and on and on.

Adding a splash of water helps temper the heat from the high ABV. Dark chocolate, espresso, toffee, baking spices becomes more pronounced, and a lot easier to approach

This tastes like a bowl of Phở! Sans beef and rice noodles.. Okay hear me me out.

This gin is a blend of some of the best botanicals & spices in Vietnam. 90% of the botanicals used in Saigon Baigur Gin are locally sourced.
Black Cardamom from the dense Jungles in the North, to Buddha's Hand in Hanoi, to Cinnamon from the Annamite mountains, Lotus flowers from the Mekong Delta, as well as peppercorns from the island of Phu Quoc with other local botanicals & spices mixes with Macedonian juniper.

Nose: A very Citrus aroma all thanks to the Buddha's Hand, with subtle spice notes.
Palate: Smoooth, layers of citrus is evident, juniper, and spice shows up more.
Finish: Medium dry finish, with the citrus notes transitions to a spicy finish, where Cardamom, Peppercorns, Cinnamon comes out to shine

it got all the spices in phở, the warm spices, citrus flavors, all it's missing is something basil!
🤔 Maybe a nice garnish would be some Vietnamese basil, or some cinnamon basil to bring out more of the spicy flavors!

Tasting notes:
On the nose, a green apple like scent with a refreshing sour rush of berries & citrus.
On the palate, a sweet & sour taste, reminiscent of Muscat & Chardonnay. Nice fruity flavors.
Enjoy cold, perfect for this summer weather.
