Tasting Notes:
This pleasant and surprising wine comes from vines over 60 years old. The soft aroma is delicate, with hints of black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry), red fruits (cherry, redcurrant), humus, and undergrowth. When young, this wine offers the fresh taste of grapes. As it ages, it develops flavors of truffle, leather, and spices, highlighting its strong structure. Beaune wines are generous and have great aroma and texture, making them perfect for rich meats like game, roast, or braised dishes.

TASTE:
On the nose, aroma of ripe red fruits, with spicy and slightly woody notes. On the palate, an elegant attack, a beautiful richness in the mouth, a young, tonic wine. The tannins are harmonious and fine. Oak maturation also adds spicy and vanilla notes.

GRAPE:
100% Cabernet-Franc

THE DOMAIN’S SHORT STORY:
Domaine Lambert, founded in 1987, is located at Les Chesnaies in Cravant-les-Coteaux. Cabernet Franc and Chenin are the two grape varieties grown on the estate. Pascal, the winemaker, cultivates around 25 hectares in Cravant-Les-Coteaux and Chinon. Organic farming has been practiced at the domaine for almost 20 years. Since 2005, the vines have been cultivated biodynamically, without the use of chemicals, in order to rediscover the wine’s primary, natural aromas.

𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐫𝐮 recently hosted a captivating wine tasting event led by renowned winery representative Mr. Ben Nólson from Château de la Gardine.

The event was a resounding success, as attendees had the opportunity to sample a diverse lineup of exceptional wines from the Chateau’s portfolio.

The tasting featured four distinctive offerings, each showcasing the winery’s commitment to quality and the unique terroir of the Rhône region. Guests were treated to the Brunel de la Gardine Condrieu 2021, a lush and aromatic white wine; the Château de la Gardine Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 2022, a robust and complex white blend; the Brunel de la Gardine Hermitage 2021, a powerful and age-worthy red; and the Château de la Gardine Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2021, a harmonious and expressive red blend.

Throughout the event, attendees engaged in lively discussions, exchanging insights and sharing their personal tasting notes. The interactive format allowed participants to not only savor the wines but also gain valuable knowledge about the unique characteristics and production methods of each varietal.

The successful wine tasting event at Château de la Gardine has further solidified the winery’s reputation as a premier destination for wine enthusiasts seeking to explore the nuances and complexities of Rhône Valley viticulture.

An independent family winery located in the Sèvre et Maine, Pauline and Francois Menard returned from gaining experience in Burgundy to run the family vineyards in 2019. We are excited to represent such quality from this Atlantic region.

𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐝𝐲𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠
The family domaine is perched on the rocky soils at the highest point in Sevre et Maine. Converting to organics, the couple’s practices in the vineyards focus on natural patterns, using oils and biodynamic preparations to reduce copper and bring life back to the soil. In their own words, the terroir driven wines they produce ‘are a product of the generations of men and women who have left their mark and over two centuries of local history and evolution of the grape growing and winemaking processes.’

Adding to our biodynamic collection, is 𝐃𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐝𝐞 𝐋’𝐀𝐢𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐚̀ 𝐃𝐞𝐮𝐱 𝐓𝐞̂𝐭𝐞𝐬’ 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐬-𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐮𝐝 🌙

As introduced in our previous post of this domaine, by 𝐇𝐞𝐧𝐫𝐢 𝐋𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐲, the Jura winemaker who is on everyone’s lips crafting classy Burgundian-style whites and delicately perfumed reds from the same slopes as cult vigneron Kenjiro Kagamai of Domaine des Miroirs.

He is a firm believer, that natural and organic farming practices, will yield grapes that give a true expression of the soils in which they are grown. Terroir driven wines, that are not manipulated in the cellar and show the true characteristics of the vineyards through minimal interventionist principles.
