To everyone please note Dunnington News is continuing and will not close. This notice was posted on the Bishopthorpe Facebook site.
To the people of Bishopthorpe and the surrounding areas. Listers newsagents is to return to its original family with Nick Lister taking over the retail property from the 22nd July 2019. An advert will be put out via the local newspaper The Press and subsequent leaflet drops offering a delivery service for your favourite newspapers and magazines. The Post Ofice is processing an application to continue the service and you would not be wrong to presume the importance of providing this national service in Bishopthorpe. Evelyn Lister has been advised that the present tennents will be closing the shop on the 14th July and their customers transferred to another delivery service provider before the closure. These customers will be advised this week on the process of their orders. If you wish to have your paper delivered by your local retailer, Dunnington News will be offering a delivery service but not until 22nd July through the Bishopthorpe site. You can place an order by calling Dunnington News on 01904 489541. Nick is looking forward to returning to Bishopthorpe and providing a service which the people of Bishopthorpe had grown accustomed to when his father and mother, Evelyn, had the business before their retirement. It is also a good time to remember my father, Andrew, as someone respected by you all and I hope to at least be half the man that he was. If you have any questions please respect the James retail staff and direct them to Dunnington News on the number given and ask for Nick. I thank you all for your anticipated patience and understanding with the expected disruption that will occur during the closure and reopening of the shop. Xx
