🍷Wine of the Week🍷

Our Wine of the Week this week is the Heaphy Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. The Heaphy estate is located in the Nelson region on the South Island. Wines from this area differ slightly from the Marlborough style having a slightly racier edge and softer texture on the pallet. Heaphy’s vineyards were first planted in 1973 making their vines some of the oldest productive vines in New Zealand.

This wine is packed full of pink grapefruit notes, concentrated lime zest and green apple. Its zippy and zesty with a complimentary edge of salinity and added body due to 8 months ageing on fine lees.

It's a match made in heaven paired with seafood such as prawns or seared scallops and a deliciously fresh crisp garden salad to complement the herbaceous notes. Fantastic with food or on its own due to its intense fruit filled character.

We currently have it available on our wine list or to take home for £15.25.

As we transition into autumn and welcome the rich, bold reds of the season, there’s one wine we simply can’t take off the menu— the magnificent Edalise Rosé. Though the cooler months often call for heartier selections, Edalise continues to shine with its vibrant notes of wild berries and citrus, offering a refreshing counterpoint to Autum’s deeper flavours.
Its elegance and versatility make it a year-round favourite pairing beautifully with all our food offerings.
While more reds may be on the horizon, this Provençal gem holds its place as a must-have on our list.

🍇 It's National Port Wine Day! 🍇

We love Port and have many styles available at Jorvine. Normally a festive favourite with is often sweeter edge, we champion port being enjoyed all year round! With its plentiful history and variety of styles there's something for everyone to enjoy. Port reigns from Portugal and in order for a fortified wine to be called a port, it must be made using grapes grown in the Douro Valley.

We currently stock wines from Krohn, a port producer that has been established since 1865. They produce a number of styles that we stock below.

Krohn Porto Lágrima White Port - Golden in hue with a floral and fruity nose, this wine is deliciously sweet with a honeyed taste. Drink on its own or mix with tonic water and ice for a long drink with a garnish of mint. Retail £8.75 half bottle.

Krohn Ruby Port - A mature, versatile Port with deep red colour and fair concentration of warm, plummy fruit; aromatic and fruity, quite rich and full with soft finish. Retail £7.35 half bottle.

Krohn LBV 20 - LBV was developed as an alternative to Vintage Port for more relaxed and informal occasions. LBV is a very high quality Port from a single year. This wine is packed full of dark bramble fruit and notes of sweet spice. Retail £17.85.

Krohn Tawny Port - Krohn Tawny spends three years ageing in small wooden casks, generally holding about 630 litres. As it matures in cask, Tawny Port gradually loses the deep red colour of youth and takes on the seductive amber hue. Nose of ripe mellow fruit with aromas of figs and prunes set off by an attractive woody and spicy character. Retail £12.85.

Krohn Colheita 2010 - Colheita Ports are single year Tawny Ports of a high quality level which have to be matured in wood for at least seven years. This Colheita is packed with nutty character and notes of sultana. Retail £27.00.

We, like Bacchus, brought people together yesterday with wine for a fabulous Bridal Shower.
The stars of the show (apart the bride of course) were the superb hennersvineyard Sparking Native Grace & maisonboutinot Cuvée Edalise Rosé.

How wonderful to share such great wines and enjoyed for the first time for some. 😊

🍷 Producer Spotlight 🍷

This week we are putting a spotlight on an exceptional Australian wine producer, Passel Estate based in Margaret River.

Owners Wendy and Barry founded Passel Estate after several visits to Margaret River and fell in love with the area and quality of wine produced there. After finding the perfect estate in 2011, they set about making the winery what it is today and highlight the importance of provenance, discovery and sanctuary.

As well as making fabulous wines, they are also firm advocate of conservation. Both flora and fauna are protected across their estate including Quendas, Phascogales and Red and White Tailed Black Cockatoos as well as supporting the rehabilitation of the endangered Western Ringtail Possums following wildfires in 2011.

We stock three of their wines which are refined and elegant. They make a fabulous treat for a dinner party, gift or just to enjoy for yourself.

Passel Estate Sauvignon Blanc - gooseberry and lemon grass sing from this wine on the nose but on the palate there are more subtle notes of lychee, apricot and honeysuckle with 20% of the wine being aged in new French oak, it adds a depth and rounded texture to the wine.

Passel Estate Chardonnay - packed with stone fruits including nectarine, apricot and peach with a finish of jasmine and brioche from 10 months barrel aging. Deliciously rounded and sophisticated.

🍷Happy International Pinot Noir Day🍷

It’s a grape variety we absolutely adore at Jorvine for its versatility and it’s used to make some of the worlds most exquisite wines!

Pinot Noir is a thin skinned grape that can often be quite particular with its requirements, however grown well it is stunning and expresses flavours of ripe cherry, wild strawberries and crunchy redcurrant. With age the wine can develop an earthy and herbaceous character which makes it the perfect pair with duck or mushroom based dishes.

Reining from Burgundy, the variety is now grown across the world and is used to make red, rosé and sparkling wines. We have plenty available to explore 🌎 🍷
