It's nearly here folks!
Yes. Saturday the 26th of August is Orford, Sudbourne & Gedgrave Flower Show and Fete. Always a highlight of our villages social calendar, and a fun afternoon of exhibits, stalls, classic cars, dog races and entertainment.
It is not too late to pick up a form from the shop for any classes you wish to enter, and a postal box has been sited inside the shop for all your entry forms.
We are also a collection point for your generous donations for the tombola stall.
Keeping our fingers crossed for some gorgeous weather on Saturday. Hopefully, we will see you there.

Just how gorgeous does our little shop look this morning in the sunshine? With a welcoming array of beautiful garden plants, lining the path to the entrance.
In addition, we are now in the most bountiful of summer months, so we have lots of local seasonal fresh fruit and vegetables to tempt you with, from the wonderful , and many others, including raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, apricots, plums, greengages, redcurrants and blackcurrants, plus loads of locally grown tomatoes.
There is even a rumour that it may stay dry today, and, that the sun may shine!!

Orford is hosting a car boot sale this Sunday, at the Recreation Ground, in aid of the Thomas Marshall Foundation, a very wothy cause which raises funds for education for children in Mozambique. A few pitches are still available if anyone is interested, and gates open at 10am for browsers/purchasers.

Busy weekend in the sunshine, and with our gorgeous array of plants, locally grown asparagus, super-sweet strawberries and juicy raspberries, to name but a few, we are not suprised!
Orford is looking beautiful in the sunshine too, and the view from the quay is mesmerising as usual.
Orford Open Gardens today too, so why not while away an hour or two, meandering around other peoples stunning gardens, and getting inspiration for your own

We would like to take this opportunity to pass on our best wishes to His Royal Highness King Charles & Her Royal Highness Queen Camilla, upon their Coronation upon Saturday the 6th of May.
With all these extra guests, and mouths to feed, should they run out of a pint of milk, a loaf of bread, or even a few bottles of wine, they can always call in! We may even have a supply of medication to clear a few sore heads from the after-party!

The GREAT ORFORD EASTER EGG HUNT, is on next Saturday the 8th of March.
Held at the recreational ground, this is one Easter Egg Hunt any child would not want to miss. Entry is just £3 per child, (£2 for Orford School children,) and raises essential funds for our local school. All are welcome, and with the weather promising to be good, why not spend a day enjoying all the other sights Orford has to offer including spending some time crabbing off the quay, visiting Orford Castle, taking a trip over to Orfordness island, cruise on one of the local boat trips, or enjoying one of the numerous beautiful walks in the area.
We are also collecting Easter Eggs for the Egg Hunt in the shop, so if you would like to donate please do so, (we will not be offended if they were purchased elsewhere.)

Despite the lack of sunshine currently, if you are thinking of getting into your garden tomorrow, (when it is optimistically rumoured to be drier and sunny,) we have some beautiful garden ready perennials and plants now starting to arrive, including these amazing fritillaria bulbs, which will come back every year.

The apprentice has become the master!
Woody the Log Dog has completed his training as an Expert-Canine Delivery Dog. Today he returned with his new younger brother Ernie, and immeadiately commenced Ernies training programme, with the foremost essential module, teaching Ernie how to make pleading eyes at us all, until we succumbed and fed him copious quantities of dog treats!

For anyone who has been watching the dreadful footage of the Turkish/ Syrian earthquake, and who wishes to make a donation to the DEC, (Disasters Emergency Committee,) these may now be made via any UK Post Office. All donations to the DEC are also matched by government to enhance fund raising.
If however you are a UK taxpayer, and can donate online please do this, as it is more beneficial to the DEC as they can claim gift-aid upon your donation, equal to a further 25%.

Woody the Log Dog, arrived yesterday with our bumper log and kindling delivery. As you will see he has grown in the last 8 months, and is now an invaluable part of the delivery team, supervising his Dad, and counting the delivery off the lorry.
Keep an eye out for him next time he is delivering, as we can confirm he is super friendly and loves a cuddle.

We are delighted to announce that we are now an Amazon Branch Hub, which means that you can select to have parcels delivered here ready for collection at no extra cost to yourself. These packages are then securely stored here for up to fourteen days, awaiting your collection. When delivery to our store is made, you will receive a text/email containing a code which you bring along, to enable us to release your parcel.
When purchasing goods from Amazon simply select NEARBY PICK UP LOCATIONS, and select AMAZON HUB COUNTER, POST OFFICE ORFORD.
Not all goods may be delivered to a Hub, but you may also select LOCAL COLLECT, ORFORD POST OFFICE, if the service is unavailable for goods you wish to purchase.
Please use the AMAZON HUB service if you need to have your goods delivered somewhere secure or you are not going to be home. We hope that if this proves succesful we will also be able to offer this service in time for other courier companies.

We have just received our first delivery of Flamers. These are natural firelighters made from renewable, untreated wood shavings, which have been lightly dipped in wax, making them easy to light, clean and convenient, with a long burn and no odour, making them safe not only for wood burning stoves, but also open fires, pizza ovens, charcoal barbecues, chimneas and camp-fires. In addition only one Flamer is required to light a fire. A natural product produced in the UK.
Available in packs of 24, and trial packs of three.

Well the weather outside may not be too inviting, however we have lots of goodies to entice you into the shop today, including sourdoughs, breads and pastries from the wonderful , and for the first time today, their absolutely delicious almond croissant.
We also have lots of seasonal fruit and vegetables too, including seville and blood oranges, romanesco, cavelo nero, curly kale, sprouts and English rhubarb, perfect for a home-made rhubarb crumble for dessert.

It seems a shame to have these left unsold, as we are sure someone in our community would wish to purchase them as a memento of Her Majestys life.

Despite the continuing apalling rain, we are still here and still open! We are trading until 5.30pm tonight, but fruit and vegetables will start to be packed away at 5pm.
After that we are closing for two whole days to give all our personnel a very well-deserved rest. So, if we have missed you today, may we take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy, Prosperous & Peaceful New Year 2023.

Topping up on the logs and kindling supplies ahead of what will hopefully be a lovely long New Year weekend for us all.
These logs are now supplied in extra-large bags, representing even better value.
Over the years we have tried and tested many suppliers and their products, but these logs really do seem to be the best around. Solid hardwood and bumper bags stuffed full of logs, equaling great value.

Fully stocked this morning with all your seasonal food needs. Fresh from the field, locally-sourced fruit and vegetables, and a veritable mountain of sourdough breads from the triple-award winning, (World Bread Awards 2022,) Harvey & Co. Come down and get your bread whilst it's still warm from the oven, the aroma is amazing.
We are open today until 4pm, and re-open upon Wednesday 28th December at 8.30am. For those that we do not get to see today, we wish you a very Merry Christmas. Thank you also to all our amazing customers who have given us presents, all our staff are truly humbled.
