A little sea escape…

Dave hasn’t dried off the entire time, and is now mostly sand, but we had a lovely, relaxing couple of days away on the Suffolk coast.
We live and breathe Shambles (and wouldn’t have it any other way) but a mini seaside break is good for the soul (and the spaniel).

Now, back to it tomorrow morning - we are craving a and one of our bacon sandwiches!

We are kicking off with the brilliant James from on Thursday 13th June @ 7pm

James lives in Windsor and makes exciting and unique wines from British grown grapes; small batches and hand bottled.
This week James will be bringing along 5 wines to try, including an intriguing Rosé made with grapes from Essex and an excellent English sparkling.

THANK YOU to everyone who has made our little bar what it is today - your support has enabled us to grow our Shambles vision, and although there are many more exciting thing to come, we are taking time to appreciate where we are today and what an incredible team we have here.

BIG DAVE!

One of these Dave’s is a hazy double IPA, boasting notes of mango, tinned peaches and blood orange, punching in at a healthy 8.2%abv.

The other is a slightly stinky, mud covered idiot who is one of the name inspirations behind this delicious beer… (which naturally got knocked onto the floor within seconds of these photos).

New wine by the glass alert!

Solaris is made by one of our wonderful, regular guests, James - who lives in Windsor!
When he mentioned his first batch of wine was ready, we were eager to try, and they did not disappoint. In fact, Solaris has sold so well by the bottle, we wanted to showcase it by the glass as well - available from today.

- Small batch British wines made by hand following a simple philosophy.

Ps. We also stock their stunning Pinot Noir Rosé available by the bottle, too!!

Aaaaand time to rest and re-set.

What a wonderful, hectic and joyous few festive weeks we have had at Shambles!!

We are taking a few days away in the Cotswolds to put our feet up, get some sleep, and start making some exciting plans for 2024 ✨

After a wonderfully busy weekend in Shambles, we are taking a little moment (with some Champagne of course) to toast the fact that our planning application has been approved… this is such a huge milestone for us and has taken over 6 months of work.
Whilst Shambles, in all its current glory, is beyond what we had imagined and hoped for, we have a little vision to make it even better in terms of comfort, service, and our offering.

Unless Father Christmas decides that instead of socks and chocolate we get a shiny new bar this year, we will be looking for local investors to share in our journey… please do give us a shout if you’d like to find out more.

A little hello 👋🏻 from us as we have had a few new followers recently.
We are Hamish and Pip - husband and wife duo with a love for all things food and drink. Pip has recently left her job with the Champagne Bureau to jump into our business full time - so you’ll see her around more often 🙌🏻 probably still with a glass of bubble in hand 😂

When we aren’t running around Shambles you will find us out walking our grumpy spaniel, Dave - or enjoying a pint of Guinness

With over 30 years in the drinks and hospitality industry between us, it has always been our dream to do our own thing. And 6 months ago we were lucky enough to get the keys to the Crooked House. Since then we have learnt a lot, had sleepless nights, laughed our socks off, cried many times, fuelled ourselves with copious amounts of coffee - thank you - and of course consumed the entire bar a few times over ; )

We have LOVED meeting everyone who has visited us over the last 6 months and can’t wait to welcome more new faces.

Huge shout out to our wonderful team as well - we wouldn’t do what we do without such phenomenal people.

Now, festive times are just around the corner and we have LOTS of yummy, delicious and fun things planned in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!!!

It’s taken us 6 months but we now have gorgeous new menu holders.
Hamish had the pleasure of working with Cathy from previously and we didn’t hesitate to contact her again for this little project.

Cathy was a complete joy to work with from start to finish and calmly put up with Pip’s indecision without batting an eye.
These will age beautifully and will house some exciting news menus to come 👀

Shambles Wine Sessions 🍇🍷

‘What is natural wine?’

We have an exciting wine night exploring the world of natural wine.
The evening will be hosted by our very good friend Nacho
Nacho (the guy necking the Champagne) was once the wine manager for The Hawksmoor group and is now our magical wine guru, working for … it’s safe to say, he knows his wines from his onions).

Some of the wines we will be tasting have yet to hit our shelves so you will be the first to explore and enjoy them.

Date: Thurs 21st Sept
Time: 18:30 - the talk will be an hour but you can stay after to carry on the festivities

We’ll welcome you with a glass of fizz before Nacho guides us through 4 natural wines.
You’ll get a glass of each of the wines shown, plus a tasty snack plate of bread, olives, cheese and meat per person!

We are super happy to be hosting Tim Wildman MW, creator of some really exciting and innovative Pét-Nat wines.

You’ll be greeted with a glass of Tim’s Frolic Pét-Nat (described by an esteemed wine writer as “one swing of this and you’ll be singing to ‘Summer Time’ by Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince”)

Also you’ll get a taster of his other two delights: Piggy Pop & Astro Bunny

The Pét-Nat-Chat will be around an hour - you’re v welcome to stick around after and enjoy more tasty delights!

“What is Pét Nat?” We hear some of you cry… Pét Nat, aka 'Pétillant Naturel' are sparkling wines which finish their fermentation IN the bottle. They are fun, fresh and funky!

These wines will be available to enjoy by the glass throughout the talk and all evening (usually only sold by the bottle)

A celebration of colour on this grey evening - we are beyond happy to have started working with the super lovely who provides our weekly table flowers.

Sam is based in Eton and focuses on British grown, seasonally led, sustainably sourced flowers - either from her own cutting patch, or using the wonderful 🌺👏🏻

Sam delivers the beautiful blooms each week in a vintage wine bottle carrier (how fitting)

We have already been talking Christmas (music to Pip’s festive little ears) so keep an eye out for what we have planned…

This is the wonderful Haydn. Anyone who has visited us will have had the pleasure of meeting him.
He has been an integral part of our Shamble story from the word go - we couldn’t have done it without him on so many levels. Not only is he a trained sommelier, but a top notch cabinet-maker (what a combo)!

We only ever had Haydn on loan from the cabinetry world and this (alas 😢) is his last week with us at The Shambles.

Thank you - you will forever be Dave’s favourite human friend, and we will always be beyond grateful for all your help with our little bar dream 👏🏻
