Last night our wine club tried this wonderful white from Shropshire at £17. Solaris has a delicious, lightly tropical fruit character with a dash of green apple and wonderful grapefruit zest acidity. We were all impressed with the quality, doubly so as this was only the second vintage for Mel and Zoë at Rowton_Vineyard We're going to be seeing a lot more of Solaris here as it responds well to our climate and has a lower impact on our ecosystem as the variety is naturally disease resistant. We have some limited stock in the shop so pop down and pick up a bottle to try! ******er

We love: Urban Park Appassimento £14.60. Modelled on the wines of the Valpolicella area this has rich, ripe cherry fruit, brambly undertones and a dash of warm spice. This is a wonderfully warming red and delicious with the smoky flavours of a BBQ! https://buff.ly/KDXQdqI ******er

Last night our wine club tried this rather delicious Syrah/Roussanne blend from Chile at £15.90. A lovely full wine of forest fruit aromas and flavours with just a hint of underlying spice and liquorice - this went down particularly well with salty blue cheese and with a thai-style curry (not at the same time!). It's organic, biodynamic, un-filtered/fined and also has no added sulphites. In fact, unusually for wine, this is low enough in residual sulphites that it does not display a sulphite warning - so allergy sufferers, this is one for you! In the shop and online soon! ******er

If you're treating mum this weekend then this Gavi at £21 would be a great gift. Lightly peachy fruit with ripe citrus, this has a note of green apple on the mid-palate with a lime zest acidity on the finish. Dry, but with a decent fruit character and structure. New: Pra Soave £17.60. Cat has known and loved this wine for years, but somehow it had never made it on to the shelves. Thankfully, she had a word with herself after tasting it again a few weeks ago and here it is! This is volcanic soil Soave which results in a bigger wine - more peach and more body, but unlike a lot of volcanic Soave there is no oak here, so the purity of fruit character is perfectly preserved. Plenty of stone fruit and citrus here, a smidgen of honey and of course Soave's calling card almond hints. Absolutely beautiful! https://buff.ly/EAUY7PP ******er

On the barrel this week we have this moreish Sicilian Catarratto at £12.80. This has been extremely popular with our closest neighbours - the gorgeous, lightly floral aromatics and the palate of juicy melon fruit are irresistible, and all topped off by a zesty grapefruit acidity. New: Massotina Rive di Ogliani Prosecco £20. This is the top level of Prosecco (Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG) - complex and layered with delightful floral aromas, citrus fruit and white peach and a hint of spice on the finish. Family-owned Massotina are making some amazing Prosecco wines, this one is their top level and blew Cat away when she tried it, this is some fine fizz at a very decent price. If you're treating mum next weekend (or indeed any time!) we thoroughly recommend Ferghettina's pink at £35.60 - nicely developed with delicate but perfectly ripe red berry fruit character with a toasty, biscuity note on the finish. This is a traditional method sparkler so it has that Champagne-level of quality and it comes in gorgeous gift boxes while stocks last! ******er

Last night our wine club tried this rather delicious orange wine at £13.20, we're proud to announce that this converted a few of our orange wine haters! If you're a bit unsure about orange (skin contact) wine then definitely give this one a go as it's a great introduction to the style - the aromatics of Viognier really show here, with a delicious ripe citrus palate, perhaps even a note of orange in there! New: Tuscan Cabernet £22.50. Based in the Bolgheri area this is a beautifully balanced Cabernet - ripe cassis and cherry fruit with well integrated tannins and a dash of spice. This definitely fits the 'Bordeaux on steroids' image of Supertuscans! Last night our wine club tried this fabulous Appassimento Barbera at £16.90. This has layers of complex cherry fruit, a dash of blueberry and a wonderful dash of spicy tannin to tie together the ripe, sweet fruit. An absolute winner with the group - you really must give this one a try! ******er
