We specialise in the Rhône, Burgundy, Languedoc-Roussillon and the Loire Valley, plus South Africa and South America, as well as having an extensive range of wines from other regions of France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Austria, New Zealand and the US. We offer a 5% discount on unmixed cases of 12 bottles.

2023 En Primeur Tasting

Join us in Wi******er to taste about fifty wines from the excellent 2023 Burgundy vintage - not to be missed due to brilliant quality and keen pricing. We will be showcasing two new estates to our portfolio: Domaine de L’Ecette from Rully, and Château du Bourgneuf from Mercurey, both illustrating the superb value and interest there is in the Côte Chalonnaise. Three winemakers from Burgundy should be with us to present their wines in person:

Jean Marie-Chaland : organic and biodynamic Mâcon-Villages and Viré-Clessés.

Guillaume Guiton from Domaine Jean Guiton : fruit-filled, organic (uncertified) reds from near Beaune.

Thiebault Huber from Domaine Huber-Verdereau : an outstanding range of organic and biodynamic whites and reds.

Tickets are still available for our Winter Tasting near Stockbridge. At this informal, walk-round tasting we will show about forty wines, a selection for late autumn and winter. There will be a wide-ranging selection of whites, many from unusual varieties or blends, including new discoveries from Portugal and the Rhône; sparkling wine and Champagne; whilst the reds, from France, Spain, Italy and South Africa and South America, will largely be robust styles to suit seasonal cuisine. The tasting will close with a few sweet and fortified wines. All wines will be discounted by 12.5% for all orders on the evening.

One of our favourite growers, Franz Schneider of Artisan Wines in Burgenland in the far east of Austria, will be pouring his highly acclaimed reds, Chardonnay and sweet wines. Here’s a chance to engage with a master winemaker (who speaks perfect English!).

Top Scoring White Rhône

We don’t drink enough white wine from the Rhône vineyards here - it’s only about 6% of all the wine made there. That means we don’t see it in restaurants and we don’t think to ask for it. But we should! Here are two wines from the latest 2023 vintage, the first a bio-dynamic wine from south of Avignon and the second an organic Crozes-Hermitage. Our TWYFORD shop will be open this Saturday with wines available for tasting!

We always have lots of odd bottles - and plenty of cases too - left after the first few weeks of the Summer sale have passed. So now we want you to come to the Twyford shop next Saturday 14th September between 9.30am and 3.30pm and tidy up some of our remnants, with an additional discount of 5% on orders over £100 (excluding courier casualties). There will be around ten wines open for tasting and plenty of dramatic discounts to take advantage of!

NEW HIGH STREET SHOP OPENING THIS SATURDAY

We’re pleased to announce that we are opening a shop in Stockbridge High Street tomorrow, Saturday 20th July. It’s only taken us 22 years, but we have been looking for a potential site for some time and when a beautiful shop in Stockbridge (about halfway between Wi******er and Salisbury) became available we jumped at it.

Right now we are filling the newly repainted shelves with over 400 wines and it looks great. We are at Unit 1, The Vine, High St, Stockbridge, SO20 6HF.

9am to 4pm on Saturday
10am to 6.30pm Tuesday to Friday

We will be closed this Saturday. It's the first time (barring Christmas and Covid) that we have been closed on a Saturday in 21 years, and it's due to an unfortunate congruence of half term, holidays and our colleague slated to work unfortunately breaking their leg (not at work!). We apologise - we regret the loss of sales too. We will be open again after the Bank Holiday on Tuesday 28th May at 9.00 am and we will be here until 5.30 pm today if you want to collect any wine.

RETURN OF THE GODS....
We have just received a big shipment from the Cape: it’s time to get the stacks moving, in particular the outstanding wines of Domaine Des Dieux (“of the Gods” because it’s at the very top of the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, just above Ataraxia). Here the vineyards are cooled by breeezes and the clouds which cling to the Babylonstoren mountain.

Domaine des Dieux is one of our favourite estates. Megan Mullis and her viticulturist husband Shane produce superb sparkling and still wine, based on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. These are wines that we love for their remarkable value and that consistently garner critical praise and awards.

All three wines are rooted in traditional styles, with the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir having Burgundian notes and the Claudia MCC being a dead ringer for vintage Champagne. That said, all three are proudly South African, displaying the elegance and purity of fruit associated with wines of the Hemel-en-Aarde valley.

“It’s fantastic, drinking beautifully…honestly, it now tastes like a Puligny” was how Simon (owner of Stone, Vine & Sun) recently described this wine.
