Have you noticed how much difference it makes to the flavours of wine when you drink it at the correct temperature? At the optimum temperature, all the right aromas and flavours come through in a glass of wine. Or you can squash the really unpleasant aromas by chilling the wine even further. It also depends on the style of wine (light-bodied white, sparkling, medium-bodied red) as to what that ideal serving temperature is. Turns out, the temperature of wine is really important.
