Whilst some may say that the best wines are those made entirely from the same grape, we’re big believers that the real magic happens when you blend different grapes together 🤝

Be it the Rhône or Rioja, Barossa or Bordeaux, or Tuscany and Tokaji - some of the world’s greatest wines only happen because talented winemakers combine a little bit of science with art, and produce incredible, blended, wine (👩‍🔬+👨‍🎨=🤤)

We’re away for the next couple of weeks having a little holiday and seeing family in Australia 😄

Ciao! After the popularity of our first Open Tasting a few months ago, we’re back showcasing our favourite wine region on the planet: Italy 🇮🇹

We’ll be opening 12 wines from across this amazing region, ranging in all styles & prices, and over the course of a couple of hours you get to make your way around trying every single one! 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️

It’s a great way to try some different wines in an informal setting; be it hanging out with mates or enjoying a date night. We’ll have the old-school Italian music blaring, snacks on offer and bring a little slice of Italy to Towcester 🍷🤌

AUGUST TASTINGS 😄🥂

The Northern Rhône 🇫🇷
🗓️ Friday 9th August
When it comes to wine, it’s hard to imagine a place which epitomises elegance, finesse and power more than France’s Northern Rhône Valley.

Encompassing the storied appellations of Côte-Rôtie, Crôzes-Hermitage and Cornas to name but a few; it’s the premier place on the planet for the red Syrah, as well as the white Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne grapes.

California: Beyond Napa 🇺🇸

Whilst we love the Napa Valley, it can (and does) also overshadow the rest of the wonderful winemaking region that is California. 

And seeing that 96% of California’s wine production takes place outside of Napa, we thought it’s time to shine a spotlight on, and taste, where else this great state makes wine.

WINE OF THE WEEK 🤩

Achillée, Pépin Orange NV 🇫🇷🧡

With regional winemaking in the family going back 400 years, the team at Achillée are experts on the grapes Alsace grows best. The name for the winery comes from a yarrow which is used in biodynamic winemaking and grows in abundance on the farm, with the Achillée winery also boasting the title of being the largest building made of straw in Europe.

This latest iteration of Pépin Orange NV has been made with 100% Gewürztraminer. Incredibly vibrant and fruit-driven on the nose it bursts with notes of ripe tangerine, elderflower, lychee and white pepper. The palate is rich, yet silky with a real depth of tropical, spicy flavour. An absolute pleasure to drink and one of our favourite orange wines. 🍑🌶️🌸

Maison Gutowski, La Dependance 2021 🇫🇷

All class, all Provençal elegance; La Dependance 2021 is made mainly from a blend of Grenache, with a little Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. A pretty nose of blossom, lemon, peach and apricot moves to a vibrant palate with further fresh & fruity flavours. A superb value rosé and one best enjoyed in the sunshine as an aperitif 🍑🍋💜

Te Whare Ra, Pinot Gris 2022 🇳🇿
Was: £21 | Now: £18 | Save: 14%

Meaning “The House in the Sun” in Maori, Te Whare Ra is a family run winery on New Zealand’s South Island. Headed up by husband-wife duo Jason & Anna Flowerday, they have been making organic wines since 2003 🏡☀️🍇

Their Pinot Gris 2022 is taken from a single vineyard in the Renwick appellation of Marlborough. An aromatic nose of pear, honeysuckle, red apple and white blossom follow onto a more savoury-fruity palate balanced by a fine, supple texture, dry finish and lingering minerality. A great wine to pair with fresh seafood or, our fav, burrata 🍐🍎🧀😋
