The Christmas rush has started!

It would be a huge help if customers that have ordered parcels to be delivered here could collect as soon as possible.

Since last Christmas Post Office have signed up with Amazon Hub and DPD, with Evri also due to join soon.

We’ve created as much extra space as we can to account for this but there’s only so much our little office can take.

Thank you in advance.

We had yet another incident today, whereby an elderly lady was almost scammed. It’s a slightly more complex scam than we’ve seen before. We are sending the details so customers are aware and can be vigilant.

The lady was contacted by scammers, posing as O2, and informed her she had won a prize. She could chose an Apple phone or an Apple watch. She chose a watch. Through the course of the conversation they gained her trust and got hold of her O2 details. The fraudsters then ordered a phone on her account (not a watch).

The phone was then sent by O2 to the lady’s known address and the fraudsters called her by phone on the day it arrived to ask if she was happy with the item. She informed them they’d made a mistake and sent her a phone not a watch.

The fraudsters sent her a QR code and asked her to take the item to the post office to return it.

She arrived to us a bit confused as to how the QR code worked and whilst we were assisting her with it we realised something was wrong.

Ultimately, the QR code was designed to lead the parcel to the fraudsters (not back to O2) and therefore they would have walked away with a brand new phone at the ladies expense.

This has now been handed over to the police to investigate.

MESSAGE FOR ALL BANKING CUSTOMERS.

Unfortunately, we have had to introduce a limit on volume of coins we can take in at any one time. The new limit is 10 bags of coin, per customer, per day.

If you have more than 10 bags and would still like to use our services it’s a case of making several trips until you’ve banked what you need.

Also, a reminder that we can’t take loose coin, it must be presented in coin bags, and in the correct breakdown e.g £20 in £1 coins.

Something needs to be done about this! Shoplifting is a criminal offence yet there are currently no consequences for those that commit this crime. We’ve always felt it’s harder for small shops like us to take the loss but reading this article it’s shocking to see the millions of pounds lost for bigger brands.

UK business leaders have asked for a meeting with the home secretary to press for a new offence of assaulting or abusing shop staff

Wow 🤩 what an incredible amount of money raised!

We have received communication from Royal Mail stating that prices will increase from Monday 2nd October 2023.

For customers who send cards and letters at Christmas time, it’s worth getting stamps bought in advance of this date.
