Due to planned medical procedures, we are closed on Monday 5 June between 09:00 and 14:00. We will be open 14:00 til 16:00.

02/02/2023

We are changing our Saturday morning opening hours. From Saturday 4th Feb onwards the post office and shop will be open 09:00 - 10:00.

Any post will be collected along with letters from the red mailbox outside at 11:30.

The Monday - Friday hours remain the same 09:00 - 16:00.

31/01/2023

The post office and shop is open as normal today 09:00 - 16:00.

30/01/2023

The post office and shop is closed today. I have come down with flu and feel like death warmed up. Sincere apologies.

Openreach is erecting a new telegraph pole near Bridge Cottage today, so the road to Bachelors Bridge will be closed at some point. Hopefully the work won't take too long - at least Worcester County Council have nothing to do with it so the works won't take 5 days for a few hours work.

There will probably be road signs out saying the "road ahead is closed", but Suckley Post Office is still open and accessible from the Nelson Inn-end of Longley Green.

Royal Mail is resuming the export of international letters from 19:00 today. However, this is only for letters that do *not* require a customs form. Overseas postage for large letters and parcels is still suspended and thus still can't be done or accepted at post offices.

16/01/2023

Royal Mail is still experiencing severe service disruption to international export services following a cyber incident.

Therefore, all post offices are still unable to accept any post (letters & parcels) for ANY overseas destinations using Royal Mail services.

Royal Mail is now offering discounts on the ParcelForce Worldwide services, so this is an option if you have any post that urgently needs to go overseas.

For information, Royal Mail has suspended ALL international postal services due to their ongoing "cyber incident". ALL post offices have been instructed to suspend selling and sending post to all international destinations outside of UK&I.

This means that you cannot send any Royal Mail letters or parcels to anywhere outside of the UK at this time. We cannot accept any international post, including parcels you have already printed postage for.

Any international post sent since Tuesday is being held securely at Royal Mail depots.

Note that Parcelforce Worldwide is still operating, albeit with reduced service times.

I'll provide further updates as we get them.

Information for Posting, Strikes and Deliveries:

Today is the last recommended posting date for 1st Class letters and parcels. The official last day for posting anything for Christmas is Wednesday 21st, but only by using Special Delivery.

However, from what we are seeing, we strongly recommend that if you need anything delivered for Christmas, then ONLY use Special Delivery. Plus, do your posting by Monday 19th at the latest as there is further strike action planned next week (see below).

From looking at the delivery status of parcels we've processed, we can see that Special Delivery items are generally getting delivered within one or two days. This makes sense, as Royal Mail is prioritising Special Delivery and Tracked items.

1st Class parcels are much more hit-and-miss, and dependant on where in the UK they're going. Our checks show that some parcels are being delivered within two days, whereas others are taking more than a week, and others still have not been delivered.

A number of customers have asked us why they haven't received letters and Christmas cards. Royal Mail is prioritising the delivery of parcels, NHS letters and COVID test kits, so letters are very much taking a back seat. Expect letters and cards to take two weeks or more to arrive.

The situation is made even worse following the strike action this week (yesterday and Wednesday). All mail across the UK posted last Wednesday and yesterday will get collected today and taken for sorting. There is likely to be a huge mountain of unprocessed mail for Royal Mail to wade through.

Further strikes are planned for next week on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th December. This has two implications:

1) You won't get any deliveries of letters or parcels on Friday 23rd or Saturday 24th December. So, if you haven't received your Christmas cards or presents by or on Thursday 22nd, you won't get them for Christmas Day.

2) Anything you post at a Post Office or into a red mailbox on Friday 23rd, Saturday 24th, Sunday 25th, Monday 26th and Tuesday 27th will NOT get collected until Wednesday 28th December.

Suckley Post Office is closed over Christmas, so our last collection before Christmas will be Thursday 22nd December (due to the strike action next week). Therefore, any mail we process on Friday 23rd December will get collected on Tuesday 3rd January. We will remind all customers doing post of this on Friday 23rd. This does not affect our red mailbox outside, which should get emptied Wednesday 28th, Thursday 29th, Friday 30th and Saturday 31st December.

That's it!

A reminder that the Post Office is open as normal today. You can still buy stamps and post letters & parcels, withdraw cash and do all those other exciting things.

Royal Mail workers are on strike again today and tomorrow, so anything you post with us (or at any Post Office) will get collected on Friday. The red mailboxes will not get emptied until Friday.

If you're posting anything in time for Christmas, please use 1st Class or Special Delivery. Special Delivery is the best option for posting precious must-get-there presents, as it is a fully tracked service and will get your parcels to where they need to go before Christmas.

We are aware of a general huge backlog of parcels and letters in the postal system. Royal Mail is prioritising parcels (especially Tracked and Special Delivery), which may explain why you haven't received much in the way of letter mail (eg Christmas cards).

Please post as soon as you can.
