From the luscious, honeyed wines of Jurançon to the exceptional Spatlese made by Hans Tshida (10 times winner of the sweet winemaker of the year) in Burgenland.

We revisited this at the weekend and were reminded how delicious it is! 😍

Gabbas is a small producer with only 20 hectares in the heart of Sardinia at the foot of the Supramonte mountains. 🇮🇹

Giuseppe Gabbas believes in a minimal intervention approach to winemaking and he has built his reputation for producing traditional style wines from the islands most popular two grape varieties, Vermentino and Cannonau.

This Vermentino is beautifully fresh yet well rounded with zesty acidity. Notes of apricots, almonds and dried herbs with a lovely minerality. A great partner to seafood linguine or fish tacos.

If you love Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc, this is a wonderful alternative (and far more interesting!) 🤩

We are very pleased to be welcoming the highly knowledgeable and experienced Bruce Perry to our Griffin Mill shop on Wednesday 6th of November at 7pm to host a tasting evening 🥃

Mossburn Distillers and blenders set up Torabhaig as its first independent distillery, the second ever licensed distillery on the island of Skye and the islands first new distillery for 190 years!

After a painstaking 4 year restoration and build Torabhaig has been a fully operational single malt scotch whisky distillery since 2017.

We will be tasting through a selection of Torabhaig, Casteil Chamuis and Mossburn bottlings. There will be something for all tastes. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about whisky!

Exploring the wonderful island of Samos with starting with the most wonderful breakfast overlooking vineyards, mountains and the Aegean sea. We tried local specialities of tigantites, honey, pomegranate, olives, mackerel and mountain tea.

Samos produces predominantly white muscat (98%) and it is regarded as the kingdom of white muscat. There is more than 2,500 years of wine history on this island and vineyards are grown in small parcels at different heights varying from 150m to 1100m above sea level.

Thank you so much to for the most incredible tour and tasting. It is such an impressive winery with views out over the vineyards to Mount Olympus and the Mediterranean Sea.

We were incredibly lucky to meet Vangelis Gerovassiliou, one of the most renowned winemakers in Greece and enjoy a tasting of his beautifully crafted wines.

Whilst working at Domaine Porto Carras, he famously rescued the long forgotten (and utterly delicious) grape variety Malagousia and widely regarded as the King of Malagousia 🍇

Amongst the vines and the winery they also display sculptures from local Greek artists which look fantastic especially as the sun sets. 🌅

This week I am very lucky to be touring some of the very best wineries in Greece! 🇬🇷

It’s giving me such a brilliant insight into the many wonderful indigenous grape varieties, I’ve been learning more about the different regions and what makes them special, their climates and terroirs and learning first hand about the history of Greek wine. We’ve also met some Greek winemaking icons 🙌

A fabulous tasting with Julia from ! These wines are absolutely sensational from the vineyards on the steep slopes of Monte Tschöggl in Alto Adige in North East Italy 🇮🇹 and on the border with Austria.

Widely regarded as the best producer of white wines in Italy and among the best in the world, white wines dominate with 75% of production in Terlano and have been grown for centuries with vines planted up to 900 meters above sea level ⛰️

The terroir is unique with volcanic soils and a special microclimate producing wines with incredible character and longevity.

We have four of our favourites in stock now including the Traditional Lagrein Rosé which we have been recommending to our customers even as the weather becomes cooler and Autumnal. 🍂

Lagrein is a native variety to the region, it produces this juicy fresh rosé which can be drunk as a light red as an alternative to Gamay or Pinot Noir. It would make a great pairing with pork dishes or vegetable strudel 👌

The next tasting is in the diary and it’s our ‘Discover Orange Wines’ Tasting on Friday 25th October at 7pm £15pp 🧡

‘Orange’ or skin contact wines have been gaining popularity for quite a few years now, but what are they all about? This is a tasting where we will learn all about their history, their different styles, and most importantly we will be tasting a selection of five of our favourites. 🤩

They are great for summer of course but we think they are ideally suited to Autumn 🍂

We will have pizzas available to order too - we will taste through the wines between 7 and 8pm and then pizzas will be delivered to enjoy with more wine 🍷

Tickets are just £15pp for the wine tasting with an additional charge for the pizza (£10-£16pp depending on which pizza you order) 🍕

This promises to be an interesting and informative evening of lovely wines (and pizza!)

Yesterday we enjoyed a tasting in London discovering new grape varieties and trying some of our old favourites. 🇬🇷

There were some incredible examples of Assyrtiko and Malagoussia, which shows the potential of these beautiful varieties and we will definitely be adding a Kydonitsa (which means quince in Greek and was appropriately mouthwatering and refreshing !)

We tried the most incredible Vin Santo from Santorini which was the stand out of the tasting.

We are loving sweet wines from Greece and have a new one from Lyrarakis in stock now… Liastos is only tiny amounts available so don’t miss out 🙌

All The Colours of the Dark by is probably one of the best books I’ve ever read, beautifully written, a rollercoaster of a book. Quite brilliant.

Pair it with a glass of our bestselling orange wine from Romania. Solara orange wine from with the most spectacular label. ☀️ 🍊

We love a wine with a story and this one has it!

is a tiny producer just outside Jurançon on the foothills of the Pyrenees 🇫🇷 owned by a husband and wife team - they planted their own vineyard in 2019 after working in the UK wine trade for many years.

Je Reve au tractor is made with 100% Syrah, planted on a steep slope which gives it a lovely freshness. Only 12.5% alcohol but packed full of flavours of dark fruit and earthy notes.

A lot of hard work and love has gone into making this wine and it shows 😍 The geese on the label are in charge of grazing the vineyards, eating pests and keeping the grass cut. A beautiful wine.
