Meet the team! Shane Hanson is our Logistics & Delivery Driver, the man who keeps all of our on-trade clients across the Midlands stocked up with wine & spirits.

What’s your favourite dram? "A dram I will always love and go back to again and again is Ardbeg Uigeadail."

What’s your favourite local restaurant? "Being relatively new to the area, I’ve not been to many local restaurants yet, but a place I really enjoyed is Baked in Brick. Bonus shoutout to Tilt Birmingham It’s not a restaurant, but I love getting a coffee from them after a delivery."

What’s your desert island drink? "As you can tell from my favourite dram, I’m a big fan of peat. Any of the Octomore .3 editions are amazing—the peatier, the better."

What’s your favourite band/artist? "Anson Seabra. I recently saw him in Birmingham; he did not disappoint!"

What’s something you think is totally overrated? "Nando’s... like really, I do not get the hype at all!"

What’s your guilty pleasure? "Tiramisu. I’m lactose intolerant—haha!"

A look back on the fantastic Independence Day tasting enjoyed last week in the Nickolls & Perks cellars with N10 Bourbons.

Guests savoured seven outstanding Bourbons and Ryes, including a Nickolls & Perks exclusive, two single barrels, and some exceptional Bardstown expressions. Dan Priseman shared fascinating stories about the background of the distilleries and the unique characteristics of each dram.

Meet the N&P team!

For our first “Meet the Team,” we have a man who needs no introduction! You’ve seen him frequently on our social media, from hosting spirits tastings in our cellars to being an excellent hand model...Spirits Specialist, Steven Cook.

In this series, we will be asking the Nickolls & Perks team a few questions so you can get to know the people who make N&P tick.

"What’s your favourite Dram?"
It's always a tricky question for a booze geek. Something peated in a port cask.

"What’s your favourite local restaurant?"
The Old Wharf Inn. I'll be there for another top-draw Sunday roast this month.

"What’s your desert island drink?"
Another toughie. A bourbon, perhaps. If you find any islands with Michter's 20 Year Old on tap, let me know.

"What’s your favourite Band/Artist?"
I'm a big fan of shoegaze-y style stuff like Stumbleine, Tourist or M83, they're great for a road trip.

"What’s something you think is totally overrated?"
Nightclubs. Too loud. Give me an old-school boozer, taproom or swanky bar any day.

"...and finally What’s your guilty pleasure?"
Horlicks. I'm already accused of being older than my years. A hot cup of Horlicks certainly doesn't do that reputation any favours.

Domaine Huet is the leading producer in the Vouvray region of the Loire Valley, renowned for their extraordinary expressions of Chenin Blanc, prized for their richness, concentration, and ability to age. In 1947, Vouvray AOC had only been in existence for 11 years. "The most highly respected Loire vintage of the 20th Century" – Richard Kelly

The 1947 Le Haut-Lieu Moelleux is said to be ‘the most famous Loire wine’ and is globally regarded as immortal (drink before 2104)! It’s in the top 10 of Decanter’s list of wines to try before you die and scored 100/100 points from Wine Advocate!

American whiskey importer N10 Bourbons are heading to the Nickolls & Perks cellar for this year’s Independence Day Bourbon & Rye Tasting. Showcasing six whiskeys from a selection of highly regarded producers, including Bardstown, Wilderness Trail, Peerless and Never Say Die. As a special highlight, we have delved into our archives to include one of the few remaining N&P-exclusive Peerless Rye single barrels, originally released in 2019.

We’re excited to announce the release of our latest Springbank allocation, available in-store from Wednesday 12th June. Springbank's perennial 12-year-old Cask Strength returns at 57.2% abv with a 70/30 bourbon and sherry maturation; the next installment in the Longrow RED series has enjoyed a finish in Pinot Noir casks, and a single bottle of the ultra-rare 30 year old will be available by ballot in-store, limited to 25 entries. The 10 and 15 year old will also be available along with the 10th batch of Kilkerran Heavily Peated.

1982 was monumental for Bordeaux. It was a turning point for modern Bordeaux winemaking and style. Not just a great year, but a historic one and The Lafite Rothschild is the pinnacle of this most respected vintage.

It was also the vintage that launched Robert Parker as the most influential wine critic in the world for 30 years. His journal, The Wine Advocate became the first to accurately predict the high quality of the 1982 vintage. Parker led a resurgence of adoration for the finest wines of Bordeaux, Lafite included.

The 2010 Shafer Vineyards Hillside Select Stags Leap comes from one of the finest producers in California, and one of the founding estates of – and a benchmark of quality for – the Stags Leap District AVA. Scoring 100/100 points from Robert Parker, the 2010 vintage is a remarkable wine which has gone from strength to strength over the years. Stunningly rich and classic.

The first wines from Shafer arrived in 1978, following the historic Judgement of Paris in 1976, the event which saw the revolutionary expansion of production and prestige of the American fine wine trade.

The Campbeltown Malts Festival is days away, but don't worry if you won't be attending this year, we're bringing a piece of the festival to you with the Glen Scotia Campbeltown Malts Festival 2024 edition.

This year's limited release is a 9-year-old unpeated expression that was initially matured in first-fill ex-bourbon casks before a 6-month-minimum finish in Fino sherry casks.
