āBest in the Southwestā regional winner 2025 and 4th in the whole country (out of 1200 ish we reckon) for another year. Wow! What can we sayā¦ weāre absolutely delighted to have picked up this accolade for a second year running. A peer assessed, industry crĆØme de la crĆØme win that money canāt buy! This means to world to us and our little wine community that weāve created in Sherborne. What a way to celebrate our 20th year of existence, and what a great way to start 2025ā¦ a year which brings many challenges for the wine trade.
Weāre absolutely blown away and canāt wait to tell you about what this truly means for us as a small indie in Dorset. I think weāll be popping some champagne tonight!

What a fantastic night Friday was ā the first of many annual Christmas Carol events methinks. We raised a nice little bit of money for too. This is what Christmas is about, coming together. Feeling very festive nowā¦

BEAUJOLAIS NOUVEAU IS MAKING A COMEBACKā¦ and weāre here for it! Tomorrow is the BIG DAY ā if you know, you know ā weāve got our hands on ās 2024 nouveau, and itās set to be a chic and juicy little number. Weāve taken a fair few orders for when the bottles can legally be sold tomorrow (who doesnāt love wine bound in regulations š¤Ŗ) but might have a few leftover, if youāre quick!
We pinched a very cool (and apt) framed print from our cool midcentury mad neighbours too ā available to purchase ā which would look fab in any groovy, gamay loverās home!

at Vineyards, a very special tasting!
Weāve always been proud to surprise people with the wines we bring to our little corner of Sherborne. We get some of the worldās best winemakers come to us to host from our āhumble abodeā in Old Yarn Mills, Sherborneās boozy artisan quarter, and this time is no different. Weāre absolutely thrilled to be adding Penfoldsā one of the worldās most iconic wine producers ā to our portfolio and to celebrate, weāre hosting a special ticketed tasting on 20th November, where you can sample 9 of their finest (and rather epic) wines. Now, hereās where it gets a bit personalā¦
Years ago, when Vineyards didnāt even exist (pre-2005), Hannah worked at Wine Rack on Cheap St. She won a national competition for selling the most Penfolds Grange in the UK (RRP Ā£550 ish per bottle) and took home a bottle of Grange as her prize ā she still has it to this day, pictured above! And now, after years of running our own independent shop, it feels like a real full circle moment to be stocking Penfolds ourselves.

Hannah Wilkins opened Sherborne's independent wine shop 'Vineyards' in 2005 and has nearly 20 years of experience in the industry. She sees the beauty of buying wine the 'indie' wayā¦
Vineyards is nestled in the heart of Sherborne opposite our beautiful, historic Abbey. We are proud of our 'indie roots' and like to consider ourselves as being a little different to high street stockists.
Firstly, every wine on our shelves has been tasted by us which means that we can be really passionate about the products we sell. This also means that recommendations are carefully thought through.
Secondly, we 'blind taste' our wines so that the price tag does not create a bias whilst sampling. We believe that this process enables us to focus on the quality of the grape variety in our glass before deciding how much we would expect to pay for it.
Finally, we have excellent relationships with our suppliers and winemakers that allow us to know the full background on each wine from vineyard to your glass. You can expect to know exactly what you are drinking and have confidence in the quality we provide. We stock everything from ChĆ¢teau Talbot to local wines such as Sherborne Castle.
We like talking about wine and hearing what our customers think. We are active on our social media pages and like to have a little fun with our customers via competitions. Since 2016, we have been expanding what we offer in terms of tastings and now offer private tastings in-store in addition to weekend sampling sessions.
The world of wine has changed a lot over the last 20 years and I am fortunate to be working in an industry that keeps evolving.
We believe we offer a truly personal experience that only an independent can. Our shop is a relaxed and informal place in which to browse and there's always someone on hand if you need a bit of expert, friendly advice.
