We've opened something rather special this week...

Come and try this late release McRae Wood Clare Valley Shiraz by legendary Australian producer Jim Barry. Expect balanced aromas of blackberries, stewed plums, toasted black pepper, and roasting herbs.

It's not often that we get to see mature Shiraz, and this one from 2015 is a prime example of how quality Aussie Shiraz can evolve into something seriously tasty. With its resolved tannins and exceptionally long finish, this Clare Valley red drinks rather a lot like some of our favourite Northern Rhônes. If you like mature, powerful, and elegant reds then this is one for you.

The arrival of the weekend means opening a fine wine at Majestic Sevenoaks!

Come and try the Thorne & Daughters Paper Kite, an absolutely delicious old vine Semillon from the Cape of Good Hope, South Africa. Rich and unctuous, this white wine boasts plenty of ripe stone fruit and preserved tropical fruit - think juicy apricots and crystallised pineapple. Behind this gorgeous fruit lies some mouth-watering savoury elements, such as peat and blackcurrant leaf. Needless to say, this Semillon will age beautifully and for many years.

Recently purchased by Champagne Bollinger, this Cremant de Loire clearly uses some of that grand marque expertise to produce a sparkling wine of wonderful proportions. As big and bold as it is fresh and zippy, this cremant is packed with notes of fresh apples, lemon curd, and freshly baked pastries. With its fine mousse and joyous feel, this will rival nearly any Champagne.

Another week, another new wine!

Come and try our latest offering by one of the South of Burgundy's oldest producers, Jean Loron.

The Régnié Porche Noir is a Gamay like no other - brimming with the familiar notes of wild strawberry, redcurrant and black cherry, this wine is however lifted by some impressive minerality and lip-smacking tannins. Surprisingly full-bodied for such a light and fresh grape variety, this Gamay punches far above its price point and will easily tackle the heartiest of beef and vegetable stews.

We're firm believers in opening Champagne no matter the occasion, even when there isn't one!

Celebrated for it's excellent shiraz, Barossa Valley has plenty of blazing hot sunshine to produce some of the biggest and juiciest red wines you can find. Exploding with intense jammy blackcurrants and damsons from those old vines, this wine will certainly warm your cobbles on a cold and wet February evening. A new Krasno arrived this morning and went straight into the fridge, we've been itching to try it all day!

Welcome the Krasno Sauvignonasse, an exciting and unusual new white wine by our favourite Slovene producers. Sometimes called Sauvignon Vert, this unusual grape is unlike anything we've tried before. Bold and rich, this wine is bursting with ripe melon, nectarine, and apricot. Unctuous and honeyed on the palate with zippy acidity, this wine reminds us of an old vine Sémillon or Viognier.

A brand new wine has landed on our shelves and on our tasting counter this week! Welcome the smartly-labelled Côtes du Rhône Grand Millésime 2023 to our impressive range of wines from the Rhône.

Youthful and energetic, this Côtes du Rhône is bursting with redcurrant, blueberry, black cherry, and stewed plum. To balance its bracing acidity and young tannins, a gently sanguine and smoky character make for a natty little wine that is remarkably quaffable.

With over 100 years experience of meticulous winemaking, Viña Pomal is one of the most respected producers in Rioja and in Spain.

Unashamedly old-school in style, it boasts cassis, roasting herbs, creamy tannins and a reassuring measure of coconut and toasted vanilla from new American oak.

Our keen-eyed followers will spot that this Reserva hails from the 2016 vintage, one of the best Rioja vintages of the century so far - no wonder it's so bloody excellent.
